BRIAN BOND appeared on New Brunswick, New Jersey’s basement scene a few years ago, bringing his personal neo-folk music to a circuit usually reserved for punk rock. While he might be musically disconnected from what the infamous city usually produces, Bond’s folk tendencies remain connected to an indie mindset. His well-crafted and polished songwriting possesses an innocence and warmth that washes over and envelopes the listener.

Two years in the making, FIRE & GOLD is a stunning pop masterpiece by a relative unknown from Jersey. Apparently, anonymity suits Brian Bond well.

Fire & Gold continues to develop Bond’s expansive, limitless pop songwriting. Balancing the acoustic singer-songwriter form with a lyrical intensity, there is a striking intimacy throughout Fire & Gold’s extensive reach. The album is able to achieve a unique charm that is impossible to dismiss and only grows stronger with each listen. Brian Bond is that rare artist that practically begs (and deserves) to be heard by a much wider audience. Fire & Gold is a magical listening experience and it seems to only scratch the surface of where Bond could be heading. Brian Bond should be anonymous no more.

Fire & Gold is available directly from Brian here.

You can also download Bond’s Ten Thousand Songs EP for free here. The songs were recorded on a 4-track analog thirty year old tape machine over the course of just one week while Bond continued to work extensively on Fire & Gold. The EP embraces the creative songwriting process as well as the limitations of lo-fi. Ten Thousand Songs presents yet another example of Brian Bond’s incredible songwriting range.
