Count Your Lucky Stars signs Football, etc.
——————————————————-

* Band to release First Down demo
* Split 7-inch with Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) on the horizon
* Recording CYLS full-length in the Fall

——————————————————-

Michigan’s Count Your Lucky Stars continues to flourish and expand their already impressive roster. Next on the signing block is Houston, TX indie / emo band, Football, etc..

Rainer Maria comparisons be damned, Football, etc. stand tall on their own merit. Rising from the ashes of the short-lived Tin Kitchen, the band’s no-nonsense approach to music is as refreshing as it is honest. The three piece continues to put the finishing touches on their first demo, cleverly titled, First Down. The EP will be released by the band in July.

Shortly after, Football, etc will share some vinyl in the form of a split seven-inch with CYLS flagship artist, Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) . Then it is on to writing and recording for their debut full-length that will of course come courtesy of Count Your Lucky Stars.

In other label news, check out Count Your Lucky Stars’ two new June releases, Castevet and Perfect Future. You can grab em here.

Philly’s very own super-charged pop-punk juggernaut, The Wonder Years, hits the road today for two weeks worth of shows throughout the East Coast and Southeast, otherwise known as the Spring Break ’97 Tour. Joining the band will be I Call Fives.

The Wonder Years is touring in support of their latest release from No Sleep Records, a 7-inch split with Birmingham, England’s All Or Nothing titled Distances.

Truly a transatlantic effort, Distances was born from the friendship forged and experiences shared between the bands on their 2007 Hostels & Brothels Tour. The two pop-punk giants will attempt to rekindle those good times beginning July 9th in the UK for the aptly named Hostels & Brothels Tour Part Deux.

Tiny Engines + Tigers Jaw = 7 inches of Awesome

By , 10 June, 2009, No Comment

It recently occurred to me that amidst all the excitement surrounding Tiny Engines‘ decision to partner with the amazing Tigers Jaw – between the hustle, bustle and shenanigans involved in releasing records – we completely forgot to make any sort of formal declaration regarding the label’s latest vinyl endeavor. In fact, it totally just dawned on me that aside from a handful of people I’ve casually mentioned it to, no one even knows about our newest, sweetest little slab of 7-inch awesomeness, Spirit Desire.

On that note, Tiny Engines is officially confirming that it will release Spirit Desire, the latest 7-inch from Scranton, PA’s Tigers Jaw.

Furthermore, Tiny Engines would like to make a second, equally momentous announcement: Spirit Desire is now available for pre-order. To procure your copy, go here.

There – I’m sure the Blogosphere is blowing the hell up right about now.

Help Static Radio NJ!

By , 5 June, 2009, No Comment

Bad news on the Static Radio NJ tour front as the boys are currently having a touch of van trouble.  Actually, that’s understating things a bit; the van’s transmission is completely kaput and it’s going to cost the band a couple grand to get it fixed…or else they’re stuck in Mesa, AZ for a while.  Bummer city.

In any case,  money is pretty much non-existent for most touring DIY punk bands, and Static Radio NJ is no different.  They’re pretty desperate at this point and asking for your help.  If anyone might is willing to toss a few bucks their way, the boys would be forever grateful for your help.  The band’s statement and information about how you can lend a hand is below.  Thanks everyone!

“As you may or may not know we’ve been having a run of shitty luck on our last few tours.. This one is no exception. The transmission in our van is dead, and we’re stuck in California with basically no money, and we need a couple grand to get our van and gear back home. This is where you could help us. We have nowhere else to turn but to you guys. We’re asking for donations of any amount whatsoever. If you could throw a couple dollars our way, it would help us out immensly and we’ll get home ok. Our paypal email address is: staticrocker@hotmail.com. Anything you could do, even a dollar or five would be amazing. Thank you all very much.” – Static Radio NJ

LOOK MEXICO – Signs to Suburban Home Records
——————————————————-

* Label debut tentatively scheduled for Fall 2009 release
* Two new demo songs posted on Myspace

——————————————————-

This sweet little nugget is a couple days late, but I figured that I’d pass on the news just the same. Seems that Look Mexico – a band that Beartrap has worked with over the course of two years and four releases – have found themselves a great new label in Suburban Home Records.
