If you live anywhere east of the Mississippi River and you’re into punk and hardcore, chances are you’ve heard about Rad Fest this weekend in Wilmington, NC. With bands such as Leatherface, None More Black, The Sainte Catherines, Lemuria, Ninja Gun, Young Livers, The Riot Before, Nothington and Ann Beretta participating, you’d have to be living under a rock to have not.
Honestly, it sounds like it’s shaping up to be an awesome two days of music and hopefully the event will continue in years to come as the Carolina’s own little version of The Fest.
Unfortunately, neither Will or I can make it to Rad Fest this year. Beartrap is well-represented, however. Past and current bands on the roster appearing this weekend include Cheap Girls, O Pioneers!!!, The Measure [SA], PJ Bond, One Win Choice, Over Stars And Gutters, After The Fall, Lighten Up, Annabel, The Holy Mess, Junior Battles, Museum Mouth and imadethismistake. With that lineup, you’d think we were actually cool or something.
Despite not being able to attend, we did luck out with our own little “Pre-Rad Fest / Beartrap PR Showcase” this Thursday night (05/13/10) at the world famous Milestone Club in Charlotte, NC. Featuring six of the bands mentioned above – Cheap Girls, The Measure [SA], PJ Bond, One Win Choice, Annabel, Over Stars And Gutters – this show is definitely going to kick some arse. It’s not quite Rad Fest, but if you live anywhere near Charlotte, you should definitely swing by and check out some amazing bands … and support the best DIY punk rock club on the East Coast while you’re at it!
