Thinking Machines have spent the last two years tirelessly working on Extension Chords, the follow up to the band’s 2010 album, Work Tapes. The group has expanded on the two-guitar attack heard on their previous material. Extension Chords bridges the gap between the expansive space rock of the band’s first album, 2002’s Dream in Lo Fi and the post punk new wave of 2007’s A Complete Record of Urban Archaeology. Fans of those earlier records should be pleasantly surprised by the space-metal prog-punk psychedelia found here. This will be one of your favorite records of the year.
