——————————————————————————————————

* Winter Tour (1/14-1/30)
* Desolate Peaks to be released by Tiny Engines
* Artwork/Tracklisting coming soon
* Exclusive Song Premier for “Arrowhead” on Alternative Press

——————————————————————————————————

Santa Rosa, CA’s State Faults (formerly Brother Bear) is heading out on tour in support of their upcoming debut full-length, Desolate Peaks. The album will see a Spring release on Tiny Engines (Tigers Jaw, CSTVT, Look Mexico, Restorations).

Head over to Alternative Press to here the exclusive premeiere of “Arrowhead” from Desolate Peaks.

Desolate Peaks will be the follow up to the band’s debut EP, Head In The Clouds, which can still be downloaded for free. You can also check out a demo of the track “Vespers”. A new, re-recorded version of the song will appear on Desolate Peaks.

State Faults consists of four soulmates with a DIY ethic trying to make honest and explosive music. Formed in early 2010, the group immediately began writing and recording music within the cramped confines of a 2nd floor apartment. Huddled together in the California heat, the group created a tightly knit sound, drawing upon elements of 90′s emo and post-hardcore. Those early days gave birth to the band’s impressive self-released debut EP, Head In The Clouds. Released in late 2010, the EP quickly spread through word of mouth and State Faults continue to cultivate a devoted following. In what can only be described as an advancement of the sound created on Head In The Clouds, Desolate Peaks promises to take State Faults to new levels.

Stay tuned for artwork, tracklisting and more exclusive song premieres from State Faults’ Desolate Peaks! The State Faults Winter Tour begins this weekend. Jan 14-26 with Ruptures. More dates to come.

Formerly known as Dear You, Wolves At Bay treads similar progressive punk waters as bands such as Small Brown Bike, Balance And Composure and Make Do And Mend. The quartet builds its songs on a unique foundation of raw enthusiasm and intensity tempered only by a tireless work ethic and thoughtful composition, and Only A Mirror impresses with driving rhythms, gruff-yet-tuneful melodies and dynamic songwriting chops. Signals Midwest – Winter Tour Starts This Week

SIGNALS MIDWEST – Short Winter Tour Announced
——————————————————————————————————

Latitudes And Longitudes 12″ LP out now
• Digitally released via Bandcamp + iTunes
• “The Quiet Persuader” video on Alternative Press

——————————————————————————————————

Cleveland, OH’s Signals Midwest is heading out on tour in support of their sophomore full-length, Latitudes And Longitudes. The album is now available and shipping from Tiny Engines (CSTVT, Look Mexico, Restorations, Tigers Jaw).

The Latitudes And Longitudes vinyl is limited to 500 pressed on three colorways (75 teal / 150 maroon / 275 cream). The digital version is available via Bandcamp and iTunes now.

Signals Midwest recently unveiled the video for “The Quiet Persuader” off Latitudes And Longitudes. You can watch the exclusive premier of the video courtesy of Alternative Press. The video was directed/edited by Aaron Freeder.

Rarely do you come across a young band that startles you with such inherent quality. While Cleveland, Ohio’s Signals Midwest might be rooted in the ethos of punk rock the band quickly transcends the tag both musically and lyrically on their sophomore album, Latitudes And Longitudes. Paying tribute to the continual growth of legends like Small Brown Bike and Fairweather while echoing modern bands such as Balance And Composure and The Menzingers, Signals Midwest provide a unique perspective that resides firmly outside the punk-by-the-numbers formula. Call if post-pop/punk if you will.

Listen to “Limnology” from Latitudes And Longitudes (mp3)

Signals Midwest formed in late 2008 as a trio and issued their first full-length album in 2009. In 2010 the band expanded to a quartet with the addition of a second guitar player. That would be a pivotal move in the band’s collaborative development. Experimenting with and expanding their sound, Signals Midwest quickly outgrew the standard pop/punk pace. With 2011’s Latitudes And Longitudes there is a fleshed out maturity that shines through. Recorded mostly live, the album bristles with the kind of energy and purpose that emanates from a band confidently growing comfortable in their own skin.

The Signals Midwest Winter Tour begins this week. The band will be playing with a handful of great bands including The Lawrence Arms, Restorations, Spraynard, The Holy Mess, Everyone Everywhere, Sundials and Jet Set Sail. As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with the band, please drop me a line here.

WINTER TOUR
——————————————————————————————————

JAN 05 – Pittsburgh, PA @ 222 Ormsby Ave w/ Mace Ballard, Playoff Beard, Edhoculi, Trophies
JAN 06 – Brooklyn, NY @ Suburbia (330 Melrose St.) w/ Living Room, Ma Jolie, Manners, Night Owls, Parkview
JAN 07 – Philadelphia, PA @ The Treehouse w/ Restorations, Glocca Morra, Everyone Everywhere, Jet Set Sail, Ma Jolie (email signalsmidwest@gmail.com for address)
JAN 08 – Washington, D.C. @ Wasted Dream (431 Kenyon St. NW) w/ The Harrison Four
JAN 09 – Richmond, VA @ “House Address” House w/ Hold Tight!, Spraynard, Sundials, Pedals On Our Pirate Ships (email signalsmidwest@gmail.com for address)
JAN 10 – Baltimore, MD @ Charm City Art Space (1731 Maryland Ave.) w/ Foozle!
JAN 11 – Boston (Somerville), MA @ Starlab (32 Prospect St.) w/ Dan Webb & The Spiders, Ridgemont, Kid Bastard
JAN 12 – Bradford, PA @ Homewood Snowboard Factory (57 Holley Ave.) w/ Shady Ave., HisDayHasCome, Squid Vicious
JAN 15 – Cleveland, OH @ The Grog Shop w/ The Lawrence Arms, The Holy Mess, Lord

…the rambunctious, extroverted energy is more reminiscent of NYC favourites Bomb the Music Industry! (“Family Crest”) or Latterman (“Construction Paper”), and Signals Midwest return every break and twist in better shape than when they borrowed it. “Memo” opens moody before turning into a downright pretty, sprawling anthem and a similar build occurs in “I Was Lost,” which eventually sustains an intensity that’s more cathartic than suffocating (bass solo, hello). Its dynamics are powerful and unrelenting, in an exhilarating way; Latitudes and Longitudes is an album that must be taken in all at once, and definitely much more than once.Exclaim

Cattle Drums – Winter Tour Starts This Week

CATTLE DRUMS – Short Winter Tour Announced
——————————————————————————————————

* Winter Tour with Old Shelves (1/4 – 1/13)
* The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3 still available for free download on Bandcamp
* New Demos Available Here
* Band recording debut LP

——————————————————————————————————

Cattle Drums (Oneonta, NY) are heading out for a short Winter tour in support of the band’s debut, The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3, on Tiny Engines (Restorations, Tigers Jaw, CSTVT, Look Mexico).

The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3 is an eight song collection that puts together the original debut of the band with three newer tracks that were recorded near the end of 2010. The EP was digitally released in February 2011 on Tiny Engines and can be downloaded for FREE. Of course you can still download via iTunes as well.

The band recorded new demos in late 2011 that you can listen to here. After this short tour, Cattle Drums will head back into the studio to continue writing/recording for their debut LP which will see a 2012 release.

Remember when indie music was wild and unpredictable? Remember when bands were hard to pigeonhole into neat little sub-genres? Well, Cattle Drums will remind you if you have forgotten. Hailing from upstate NY, you might shrug your shoulders at a band named Cattle Drums but you would be remiss by doing so. Mixing post-punk, emo/hardcore, shards of math rock and even traces of dark Americana, Cattle Drums distinguish themselves as purveyors of a sound not yet recognizable to our pampered, innocent ears. Lyrically ambiguous and instrumentally ambitious with harsh, aggressive tones, Cattle Drums truly are a wild awakening for the senses. These songs truly defy classification and open the listener up to create their own unique interpretation of the Cattle Drums sound. Need a shock to the system to break you from the mundane of the daily grind? Delve into the madness of the Cattle Drums experience and witness a band operating only by their keen sense of artistic expression. Eccentric and chaotic yet always melodic and intoxicating, Cattle Drums are kicking up dust and noise unlike anybody else right now. Just imagine what is yet to come.

The Cattle Drums Winter Tour begins this week.

The album can also be streamed in full now on the Better Days Bandcamp.

Placeholder originally formed under the moniker Coastal in March 2011. After playing together in various bands in the past, the quartet quickly bonded and began writing/recording. Playing emotionally intense post-hardcore, Placeholder make a giant splash on their proper debut. Banquets – New Video Premier at Alternative Press

BANQUETS – Releases Video For “Sometimes A Wolf”
——————————————————————————————————

* Premiering exclusively at Alternative Press
* Top Button, Bottom Shelf available now
* Upcoming Winter shows

——————————————————————————————————

BANQUETS (Jersey City, NJ) has unveiled the video for “Sometimes A Wolf,” a track from the band’s debut full-length, Top Button, Bottom Shelf, on Black Numbers (Grey Area, Go Rydell, Luther, PJ Bond). The video was directed by Kevin Slack (The Gaslight Anthem, Dave Hause). You can watch the exclusive premier of the video courtesy of Alternative Press.

Top Button, Bottom Shelf is available now. The vinyl was limited to 500 on three different colorways (100 Pink w/ Black Swirl, 150 Blue w/ Silver Swirl, 250 Yellow w/ Blue Swirl). A limited edition CD version is also available here. You can download Top Button, Bottom Shelf for $6 at the Black Numbers’ Bandcamp. Of course, the album is also available digitally from iTunes and other online retailers.

You can still head over to Rock Sound to hear/download “The Sound Of Money”. RCRD LBL has an exclusive mp3 for the track “Fireplug” as well. Additionally, you can also stream the track “Forever Bender” at Punknews.org.

Top Button, Bottom Shelf blows all expectations and pre-conceived notions out of the water. The ten songs that make up the band’s debut full-length build and hold the momentum for an incredibly rewarding and all too short 25 minutes. Waiting for some lull or filler to catch your breath is fruitless as the band delivers gem after gem. Of course you can talk of the band’s pedigree, Banquets lead singer Travis Omilian was the original singer for Let Me Run and other members have played in bands such as Outsmarting Simon, Static Radio NJ, The Stand In and The Banner, but all that undersells just how quickly Banquets have grown into their very own exciting entity. No doubt the past experiences served them well but Banquets have upped the ante for all melodic pop/punk rock with Top Button, Bottom Shelf.

Banquets has four shows on the horizon with Ignite, Grey Area, Saves The Day, Senses Fail and Ensign.

UPCOMING SHOWS

This new offering – which will likely appear on a TBD 2012 vinyl release from Black Numbers – is one of three new songs that will make their debut at Alternative Press over the course of the next two weeks. Check back to the magazine’s website on November 19th and 26th for video / mp3 premiers of “Nevermind” and “Reasons.”

Included with the premier of “I’m In A Bad Way” are the lyrics and a written intro from the always-insightful Bond as he discusses playing music, traveling the world and the overwhelming generosity of the folks he’s met along the way. He also gives a detailed description of the songwriting process and how it came to fruition. It’s an engaging read from a man whose lifestyle and choices not only embody the true nature of Punk Rock but who is always searching for new and creative ways to connect with music fans and people in general.

On that note, Bond is once again circling the globe, this time playing shows across Europe and the UK for the next five weeks. Tour dates are below and as always, if you’d like to attend a show, talk to PJ or maybe give him a couch to crash on, email me here or contact PJ directly here.

PJ Bond is the former front man for Outsmarting Simon (Triple Crown Records) and Marigold, and the New Brunswick, NJ native has also played in The Color Fred and Communipaw. His last two releases – the 2009 full-length You Didn’t Know I Was Alphabetical and a more recent 7-song live EP, 22 April: Vienna, Austria – are available in various formats from Black Numbers. Bond’s homespun brand of indie rock and Americana is a lush and organic affair, punctuated by strikingly honest lyrics that are deeply personal yet touch on universally understood themes. If you’re able to catch him live, you’ll be treated to a heartfelt slice of creaky, back porch Americana tossed against a perfectly catchy pop backdrop. Still, Bond tosses in a bit of everything, from rustic, uptempo alt-country rockers to haunting, melancholy acoustic offerings and sweetly infectious indie numbers. For fans of Rocky Votolato, Neutral Milk Hotel, Whiskeytown and Elliott Smith.

Luther – On Tour

LUTHER – Fall Tour (OCT 14 – NOV 15)
——————————————————————————————————

* In support of Siblings & Sevens
* 12″ available now on Black Numbers
* CD available from UK label Disconnect Disconnect

——————————————————————————————————

Luther (Philadelphia, PA) are heading out on tour in support of the band’s newest release, Siblings & Sevens. Luther will be playing shows with an amazing itinerary of bands that includes Anti-Flag, Banner Pilot, Broadway Calls, Dead To Me, Spraynard, The Bouncing Souls, The Great Explainer, The Holy Mess, Timeshares and Tom May (The Menzingers).

Siblings & Sevens was released on 12″ vinyl via Black Numbers (Grey Area, Go Rydell, Banquets) in August. The vinyl is limited to 500 on three different colorways (100 x opaque blue / 200 x opaque white / 200 x opaque gold). A limited edition CD version is available from UK label, Disconnect Disconnect. Of course, Siblings & Sevens is also available digitally from Bandcamp, iTunes and other online retailers. For more information, go here.

You can still hit up a bunch of exclusive streams and downloads at various sites. Head over to Rock Sound to hear “This Is Like Fight Club”. Additionally, RCRD LBL premiered “There’s Always Money” and you can still download an exclusive mp3 for the song here. And don’t forget that “The Communion” is still streaming at Absolute Punk as well.

Forming in late 2010 Luther bring back memories of a simpler and more organic time in rock music. While making no attempts to hide their punk rock roots Luther replace the overt aggression flooding the current world of punk with passion and a sincere sense of urgency. Living in South Philadelphia, Luther’s exposure to the city’s diverse music scene creates a varied sound that results in a refreshing mixture of indie, punk rock, post-hardcore and pop. Luther’s brand of songwriting comes with a natural nervousness that is layered with harmonies and an abstract approach to lyrics, all on top of a driving and unified rhythm section. Coming out swinging, Luther have played over 30 shows, an east coast tour, and recorded a 12 inch with producer Jeff Zeigler (Kurt Vile, The War on Drugs) within a four month period.

As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with the band, please drop me a line here.

• Full stream: Punknews.org

——————————————————————————–

Beginning on Friday, October 7th, The Mighty Fine (San Luis Obispo, CA) will embark on a 15-date tour of the U.S. in support of its newest full-length, In Revival.

The band’s sophomore effort was released on August 16th by Solidarity Recordings (imadethismistake, The Methadones, Run, Forever) and is available on CD and digital formats. Go here to grab the 12-track CD, download it via iTunes or pick up a copy directly from the band at shows. There is also a 12″ vinyl version in the works which will see a late Fall release from Solidarity.

The Mighty Fine will be touring with fellow Californians Heart To Heart, whose newest 7-inch, Deathproof, was released today by Anchor Eighty Four. Detailed tour info is below. As always, If you’d like to attend one of these shows or speak with either band, drop me a line here.

Produced by Nolan Perry, mastered by Justin Perkins (Screeching Weasel, The Riverdales, Direct Hit!) and featuring artwork from Dave Watt, In Revival is the follow-up to The Mighty Fine’s 2010 self-released full-length, Bad Timing For Everything. On its latest stellar effort, the California trio extolls the most positive virtues of contemporaries such as The Menzingers and Against Me! – driving, punchy rhythms, soaring choruses and dynamic song structures – while still carving out a unique space for itself within the crowded punk universe. Played with passion and a fiery conviction, but also executed with precision and carefully considered ideas, In Revival bares the mark of a band ready for bigger and better things.

In Revival is currently streaming in its entirety at Punknews.org. The listen to the full-album, go here. Additionally, you can download free mp3s for the songs “To Indiana” and “Paper Trails.”

Pre-orders for the Latitudes And Longitudes vinyl will begin late October/early November with an official release date set for late November. The album is available digitally now. For a limited time you can download Latitudes And Longitudes for $6 at the Tiny Engines’ Bandcamp. You can also download via iTunes.

Listen to “Limnology” from Latitudes And Longitudes (mp3)

Rarely do you come across a young band that startles you with such inherent quality. While Cleveland, Ohio’s Signals Midwest might be rooted in the ethos of punk rock the band quickly transcends the tag both musically and lyrically on their sophomore album, Latitudes And Longitudes. Paying tribute to the continual growth of legends like Small Brown Bike and Fairweather while echoing modern bands such as Balance And Composure and The Menzingers, Signals Midwest provide a unique perspective that resides firmly outside the punk-by-the-numbers formula.

Check out a live video of the album opener, “In Tensions”. The song was the first performance in the “Live from Bad Racket” series sponsored by Ohio Authority.

Also, the band recently shot a video for “The Quiet Persuader” which will premeire on Punknews.org in October.

Signals Midwest has a couple of dates in the Cleveland area coming up supporting some amazing bands.

BIO
——————————————————————————————————

On Restorations’ Self-Titled debut full-length, the Philly quintet creates songs that are layered, tension-building monsters which lean heavily on a rhythm section that could probably knock a hole in the side of a Sherman tank. Still, that never takes away from the band’s ability to craft warm, stirring melodies, enduring hooks and dynamic song structures. Cascading guitars, pulsing waves of reverb and spacey flourishes are held together by Jon Loudon’s raspy-yet-tuneful growl. His delivery transmits confidence, wisdom and a bit of wear and tear – perhaps from years fronting underground DIY heroes Jena Berlin – but he also sings with a soulful, youthful exuberance that feels like he genuinely loves the process of creating music. If you’ve been searching for a thoughtful, nuanced take on punk and indie rock – and all the sub-genres they entail – Restorations might just be your new favorite band.

One Win Choice – Sep / Oct Shows Announced

ONE WIN CHOICE – September / October Shows Announced
——————————————————————————–

• Touring in support of new full-length CONVEYOR
• LP / CD / Digital out on Jump Start Records

——————————————————————————–

ONE WIN CHOICE recently announced a string of 17 shows over the course of the next two months in support of its most recent full-length, CONVEYOR. The Philadelphia-based band will kick off a series of weekend tours this Friday and has also confirmed a 10-day East Coast trek beginning on October 18th and culminating with an appearance at FEST 10 in Gainesville, FL.

Joining One Win Choice along the way will be the likes of Caleb Lionheart, ATTENTION and label mates Astpai. The band will also be sharing the stage with Strike Anywhere, Smoke Or Fire, The Riot Before, The Copyrights, A Wilhelm Scream and more. Complete details are below. As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with the band, drop me a line here.

Conveyor was released earlier this year by Jump Start Records on 12-inch, CD and digital formats. The former is limited to a pressing of 500 on black (100) and black/yellow splatter (400) vinyl. For more info go here or grab a copy from the band at shows. For digital, go to iTunes or Bandcamp, where you can stream the record in its entirety.

Channeling the ethos and intensity of bands such as Strike Anywhere and Refused, and and combining melodic elements not unlike Rise Against or A Wilhelm Scream, Philly’s One Win Choice is a bastion of everything hardcore punk should strive to be. Conveyor burns with an underlying fire and passion, and the term “sonic annihilation” comes to mind more than once during the album’s 33 minute run time. Still, this explosive full-length also frames a group of individuals who have grown immensely as songwriters; these 13 tracks are meticulously crafted, underscored by thought-provoking lyrics and a palpable sincerity.

Ghost Robot Ninja Bear – Midwest Tour

GHOST ROBOT NINJA BEAR – Midwest Tour Starts Tomorrow
——————————————————————————————————

• In support of Self-Titled full-length – out now on CD / Digital
• Available for free / pay-what-you-like download
• Recording new digital single this Fall

——————————————————————————————————

Beginning tomorrow, GHOST ROBOT NINJA BEAR will be hitting the road for a short Midwest tour in support of its Self-Titled debut full-length. The band is the newest vehicle for former Nakatomi Plaza front man Oscar Albis Rodriguez, who will be performing solo for each of the five upcoming shows.

The Self-Titled record was self-released by Ghost Robot Ninja Bear earlier this summer and is available on CD format from Rodriguez at shows, as well as digitally from iTunes and other online retailers. Additionally, the album is available via Bandcamp as a pay-what-you-like download. Grab this terrific album for free, or show some love by donating a little something that will help Rodriguez survive for the next week on the road.

Recorded by Dave Snyder ( Ruth Ruth, Rivington, Nakatomi Plaza ), produced by Rodriguez and mixed by J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines) this eponymous album is the follow-up to last year’s two digital singles, Staring At The Clocks b/w Carousel and One Pedal To Another b/w Blood, The Tango. For these eight songs, GRNB enlisted the help of some very talented friends: Gunnar Olsen (The Exit, Asobi Seksu), Shawna Potter (Avec / War on Women), Brendan Coon (Ludlow Lions) and Al Fair (Nakatomi Plaza, Bridge and Tunnel) to name a few.

With Ghost Robot Ninja Bear, Oscar Albis Rodriguez once again takes center stage and appears poised to escape the shadow of former bands. Thankfully, this collection of tracks won’t allow us completely forget older endeavors; still, it’s apparent that the front man’s songwriting abilities continue to evolve in exciting ways and his musical chops are sharper than ever. Weaving adventurous, dynamic compositions around anthemic choruses, GRNB specializes blazing riffs and layered harmonies that toe the line between melodic and graveled, while the rhythm section deftly propels each song into the next. It’s clear that Rodriguez has created a vehicle in Ghost Robot Ninja Bear that can stand on its own and will continue to forge a unique identity well into the future while paying tribute to the past.

In related news, Ghost Robot Ninja Bear will be recording a new digital single this fall. Rodriguez will also record a new solo album in the coming months. It will be the follow-up to the aptly titled Oscar Albis Rodriguez’s Big Day EP, which you can download here.

As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with Oscar, drop me a line here.
