Born and bred in New Brunswick, New Jersey’s beer-soaked basement scene, Communipaw began as a convergence of three veteran indie rock projects that cut their teeth in the local DIY circuit. Since the band’s inception – a 2007 impromptu performance featuring lead singer/songwriter Brian Bond and drummer Keith Carne – they have formed a four way kinetic connection with bassist Dave Esterman and guitarist Brian Kelly, and a project that represents their creative ideal: music that’s equally as enjoyable as it is insightful. By mixing their love of soaring, anthemic indie rock with a classic songwriting sensibility and a slice of alt-country, Communipaw has crafted a dynamic brand of indie-pop, and thus built a reputation for originality in their hometown scene.

After releasing Moving Till The Morning, their acoustic guitar-based debut EP that flirted more with alt-country interests, Communipaw jumped back into the studio with the intention of creating a quick follow-up EP. That experience morphed into a year long adventure that brought the band to eight different studio spaces and inspired eleven new songs, experimentation, revision, and reinvention along every step of the way.

The resulting self-titled record illustrates Communipaw’s romantic ideas about recording and instrumentation by coloring sensitive composition with tape effects, “guitar-god” leads, upright double bass, and creative production. It is at once a lush synthesis of the group’s diverse influences – from shoegaze to surf rock and everything in between – and a testament to the maturity of the band’s songwriting. Communipaw is currently planning to release a follow up record in the spring and tour the country in the summer of 2010.
