It’s difficult to comprehend how They And The Children can sound so vibrant, intelligent and alive while simultaneously churning out such devastatingly crushing and epic hardcore. At times, their music transmits like the four horsemen of the Apocalypse on a particularly nasty day. But Home is exactly those two polar opposites, colliding together to create one wholly engaging, invigorating
album.

Of course, the Middletown, Connecticut four piece have always been keen on contemporary ideas, novel concepts and thinking outside the proverbial box. Perhaps that’s why this blistering eight song attack hopes to incite powerful emotion as much as it strives to form a dialogue between those who don’t necessarily accept things at face value.

Musically, Home is even more bombastic and dynamically resonant than previous releases, alternating between thrash-inspired riffage, slowly-churning, ominous grooves and soaring, melodic interludes. There’s no doubt that They And The Children like it raw, gritty and scathing, but the band also understands how to allow a song to breath and grow, eventually swelling into a frenzied storm of dense noise. Juxtaposed with the insightful lyrics, Home becomes a testament to the band’s commitment to the DIY community as well as a cry for solidarity…an underground call-to-arms from four individuals who have stayed true to a punk ethos while so many around them have fallen by the wayside.

They And The Children is Brian Frenette (vocals), Ryan Gorman (guitar), Christopher Perrotti (bass) and Sean Gorman (drums). Home was recorded by Dan Franko in January of 2008 and will be released by Kill Normal Records on July 1st, 2008. The eight-song debut full-length is available in both CD and LP format, with the vinyl version limited to 515 pressed (105 black, 205 translucent orange and 205 clear). They And The Children’s 2005 EP, Thoughts On Becoming A Ghost was released by Tor Johnson / Shock Value. The band has also appeared on 7-inch splits with Daniel Striped Tiger and Towers.
