Modest may be a strange way to describe a band’s members and music, particularly one that falls neatly beneath punk-rock’s noisy umbrella. Nonetheless, almost everything about Orlando, FL’s Among Giants fits this designation. Of course, modesty doesn’t merely describe Among Giants; it’s their secret weapon. There’s no pretension in their story or in their simple desire to write and perform music from the heart, and it’s this mission that allows them to express the honesty that packs such an enormous and memorable punch. But Back And Forth not only epitomizes this power of modesty; it also captures a young band with the ability and audacity to wield it.

Back And Forth follows up the Among Giants’ split 7″ with Aspiga on Say-10 Records. As well, the band’s 2012 full-length,Truth Hurts, is available for name-your-price download on Bandcamp.

Two Knights – Song Premiere on Absolute Punk / Pre-Order New LP on Count Your Lucky Stars

Two Knights – Song Premiere on Absolute Punk / Pre-Order New LP onCount Your Lucky Stars

• Shut Up out 4/8/14 on Count Your Lucky Stars
• Artwork / Tracklising Released
• RIYL: Maps & Atlases, Minus the Bear, Indian Summer, Funeral

——————————————————————————–

Count Your Lucky Stars is excited to announce the release of the new LP from Denton, TX’s Two KnightsShut Up is due out in early April and is now available for Pre-Order.

You can stream the first single from Shut Up now. “Dear God, This Parachute is a Knapsack” is streaming exclusively on Absolute Punk.

The Shut Up LP follows up the band’s 2013 release, A Lot of Bad Things Happened, But We’re Still Here. You can listen to that on Bandcamp.

Two Knights are a two-piece band from Denton, TX who have enough talent in their two bodies to easily equal that of a 4-piece band. What they lack for in members they exceed for in musicianship, with savvy drumming and astounding guitar work that sounds like at least two guitars. Singer/guitarist Parker Lawson caterwauls his way through every song, leaving everything on the table as drummer Miles DeBruin destroys the kit. By the end of any Two Knights record, you will be depressed in the best of ways. It’s the most cathartic experience you will have had since your significant other dumped you on Valentines Day after they ran over your dog and stole half your record collection.

A-F Records debut LP, Tomorrow, I’ll Miss You. You can stream the re-recording of “Wake Up” exclusively on Absolute Punk. The song originally appeared on Anti-Flag’s 2003 LP, The Terror State.

Justin Sane of Anti-Flag had this to say about Worship This!:

“In a laptop production era, its pretty great to come across a band that gives a shit. Worship This! are a band that you want to be friends with. They sound real, sincere, touchable, on a level that I haven’t seen in years. Melodic punk rock in a world where there is very little true melodic punk rock. Tracked live, “Tomorrow, I’ll Miss You” is 4 friends capturing and documenting real life. If you like records that are Copernican, you’re going to want this in your collection.”

Arliss Nancy – Pre-Order New LP On Black Numbers / Song Premiere on Absolute Punk

By , 12 September, 2013, 2 Comments

Arliss Nancy – New LP Available For Pre-Order From Black Numbers / Song Premiere on Absolute Punk

• Wild American Runners LP out in October on Black Numbers
• RIYL: Drive-By Truckers, Lucero, The Replacements, The Hold Steady, The Gaslight Anthem

——————————————————————————————————

Wild American Runners, the third full-length from alt-country band, Arliss Nancy(Fort Collins, CO), is now available for Pre-Order. You can stream the first single from the record, “Coals”, on Absolute Punk now. The album is officially out in October on Black Numbers.

Wild American Runners follows up Arliss Nancy’s 2012 album, Simple Machines, on Loose Charm Records. Also of note, the band’s first full-length, 2009’s Dance To Forget, is available for free download from Death To False Hope Records.

Formed in 2007, Arliss Nancy owe their sound to the dual influences of both Americana roots rock and gritty, bearded punk. From the outset, singer-songwriter Cory Call excelled at juxtaposing the simplicity of the classic American blue-collar songwriter with the subtlety and nuance of a well-read, withdrawn poet. Now, with nearly 6 years, 3 full length albums and 2 EPs under their belt, that dichotomy is as persistent as ever with the addition of bassist Kyle Oppold as half of the songwriting force behind Arliss Nancy’s Wild American Runners Black Numbers debut. The record will be immediately palatable to fans of alt-country mainstays like Lucero and Two Cow Garage, but the discerning ear will hear hints of a wide array of influences. From the dingy gravel of Midwestern pop punk to the whimsical balladry of Bruce Springsteen, Arliss Nancy’s sound is a triumph of contrasts, and they aim to prove it with their third full-length Wild American Runners.

Deer Widow is a four-piece band from Flint, MI that originally started as a solo acoustic project for singer/guitarist, Chris Thibodeau. Enlisting the help of drummer, Jeff Buffmyer, and bassist, Nick Mayberry, to record a studio session with sound engineer, Marc Jacob Hudson (Saves the Day, Taking Back Sunday, The Swellers), Deer Widow began to take shape as a full band project during the rehearsal and recording process. Deciding to look for a fourth member to round out the band’s sound, Thibodeau switched from acoustic guitar to electric and added guitarist, Vince Moreno. Deer Widow headed back into the studio and finished recording their debut self-titled EP, released by Save Your Generation Records.

Deer Widow’s Record Release Show is happening SEP 14 – Flint, MI @ Flint Local 432 – w/ Lawnmower, Crybaby, Due North, The White Oranges
