WAVELETSPre-Order Debut Full-Length from Tiny Engines

Athaletics 12″ LP out Nov 29, 2011
• Digital release today via Bandcamp + iTunes
• Download free mp3s from RCRD LBL + PureGrainAudio
• Test pressing contest, limited-edition prints, FEST show + more!

——————————————————————————–

Athaletics, the debut full-length from Gainesville, FL’s Wavelets is now available for pre-order from Tiny Engines (Tigers Jaw, CSTVT, Look Mexico, Restorations). The 12″ LP will see a November 29, 2011 release date, while the digital version is out today via Bandcamp and iTunes. It’s also worth noting that all vinyl pre-orders come with an instant mp3 download for the 9-song album.

Pressed on 180 gram vinyl, Athaletics is limited to 500 on three colorways (75 clear / 150 transparent red / 275 black) and includes a hand-screened insert and an mp3 download code. The first 50 pre-orders will receive a limited-edition, hand-screened print with exclusive artwork by Wavelets’ drummer, Lee Kraft. Additionally, all pre-orders will be entered to win a test pressing of the record.

Tiny Engines and Wavelets recently teamed up with RCRD LBL and PureGrainAudio.com to give away two new tracks from Athaletics. Download free mp3s for “Cannonball” and “Cam Taylor Is So American Kushball” here and here.

Additionally, Wavelets was recently included on the Topshelf Records 2011 Label Sampler. This compilation features some of the very best of the underground emo / punk scenes, including Pianos Become The Teeth, Touché Amoré, Moving Mountains, Balance And Composure, La Dispute, Grown Ups, Bars Of Gold and much much more … not to mention most of the Tiny Engines Roster as well. To download “My Dad The Manatee” from Wavelets, plus 67 other amazing songs, go here.

Recorded by Matt Finch and Ryan Williams at Black Bear Studios (Hot Water Music, Chris Wollard, City Of Ships), Athaletics traverses nine tracks of somersaulting, emotionally charged indie rock (let’s just call it emo) that initially feels a little out of place in relation to the tuneful, gruff punk that Gainesville and its bearded denizens have become known for. Still, great music transcends scenes, genres and geographical limitations; in that sense Wavelets is thriving with its boundless energy and freewheeling, friends-first attitude … not to mention the outfit’s ability to create music that is both intricately complex and instantly catchy. It’s this unique blend of technicality and structural ingenuity that initially grabs our attention, but it’s Athaletics comforting nostalgia and sense of fun that really wins us over and begs for repeat spins. Recommended for fans of Algernon Cadwallader, Street Smart Cyclist and Weatherbox.

Since its 2009 inception, Wavelets has self-released a handful of digital EPs and singles, as well as a 7″ split with hometown brethren, Senders. To download the band’s full discography, go here. Also, if you have an extra minute, do yourself a favor and download the new EP from Dikembe, which features Wavelets front man Steven Gray as well as bassist Ryan Willems.

Finally, don’t forget to catch Wavelets at this year’s FEST 10 in Gainesville. The band will be playing on Friday (10/28) at Bar 1982 with Grown Ups, Spraynard, Go Rydell, Nightmares For A Week and more. For additional information, go here.

RESTORATIONS – Releases New Video For “When You’re Older
——————————————————————————————————

• Premiering exclusively at Punknews.org
Self-Titled vinyl LP out today from Tiny Engines
• Release show footage – watch live performance of full record
• Front man Jon Loudon contributes guest playlist to Epitonic.com

——————————————————————————————————

RESTORATIONS (Philadelphia, PA) has just unveiled a video for “When You’re Older,” the closing track from the band’s Self-Titled debut full-length, which is officially out today on 12″ vinyl from Tiny Engines. Directed by Steve Perrong and Jon Applebaum, you can watch the exclusive premier of the video courtesy of our friends at Punknews.org.

Sticking with the video theme, there’s some great live footage of Restorations’ record release show at Kung Fu Necktie in Philly last month. The band played every song from the new album in sequence and you can watch the performance for each here.

Recorded by Algernon Cadwallader‘s Joe Reinhart and mixed by Jonathan Low (Dr. Dog, Danielson, mewithoutYou), Restorations’ Self-Titled LP is limited to a pressing of 500 on three colorways (300 black 180 gram / 150 clear yellow / 50 clear black swirl) and features gatefold jackets with art and design by Bruno Guerreiro. Grab your copy here or from the band at shows. Additionally, Restorations just set up a merch store where you can pick up the new album, older vinyl releases and even a tee shirt or two.

The Self-Titled record is also available digitally via iTunes and Bandcamp, where it is also available for full streaming. And don’t forget that you can still download free mp3s for “Broken Vacuum” and “Neighborhood Song” courtesy of RCRD LBL and Epitonic.com, respectively.

On that note, front man Jon Loudon has contributed the featured guest playlist (including commentary) at Epitonic today. Check it out here and stick around to test some of the site’s newly-upgraded features.

Finally, a quick mention regarding Restorations playing Treasure Fest in Charlotte on May 21st: The two-day festival features the likes of Algernon Cadwallader, Daytrader, Snowing, Tim Version, Landmines, Worn In Red, 1994!, Campaign, Red Collar, Mose Giganticus and a ton more, including Tiny Engines’ bands Everyone Everywhere, Annabel and Monument. You can see the full lineup and schedule on the website and grab a two day pass for just $25 here. If you purchase tickets early, you’ll automatically be entered to win a grand prize featuring test pressings from all the Tiny Engines bands appearing at the fest, not to mention goodies from Sorry State, Lunchbox and Self Aware Records.

BIO
——————————————————————————————————

On Restorations’ Self-Titled debut full-length, the Philly quintet creates songs that are layered, tension-building monsters which lean heavily on a rhythm section that could probably knock a hole in the side of a Sherman tank. Still, that never takes away from the band’s ability to craft warm, stirring melodies, enduring hooks and dynamic song structures. Cascading guitars, pulsing waves of reverb and spacey flourishes are held together by Jon Loudon’s raspy-yet-tuneful growl. His delivery transmits confidence, wisdom and a bit of wear and tear – perhaps from years fronting underground DIY heroes Jena Berlin – but he also sings with a soulful, youthful exuberance that feels like he genuinely loves the process of creating music. If you’ve been searching for a thoughtful, nuanced take on punk and indie rock – and all the sub-genres they entail – Restorations might just be your new favorite band.

RESTORATIONS – New SELF-TITLED LP Out Digitally Today (Tiny Engines)
——————————————————————————————————

• Download via iTunes, Bandcamp
Pre-Order 12″ vinyl (out 04/19/11)
• Band featured on The Switchboard Sessions
• Recording new song for COMPassion Project

——————————————————————————————————

Tiny Engines (Tigers Jaw, CSTVT, Look Mexico) is excited to announce that Restorations‘ highly anticipated Self-Titled debut full-length is now out digitally via iTunes and Bandcamp, where it is also available for full streaming and can be purchased for a special price of $6 for the remainder of March.

Additionally, the 12″ vinyl version of the record – which will see an April 19th release from the label – is now available for pre-order. Recorded by Algernon Cadwallader‘s Joe Reinhart (My Heart To Joy, Monument, Snowing) and mixed by Jonathan Low (Dr. Dog, Danielson, mewithoutYou), the LP will be limited to a pressing of 500 and feature gatefold jackets with art and design by Bruno Guerreiro.

Plenty of other exciting news on the Restorations front as well, particularly the Philadelphia band’s recent feature with The Switchboard Sessions. This terrific website has taken a simple concept – providing a forum for great independent bands to perform two songs live over the telephone – and paired it with some of the most thoughtful, well-written interviews this side of the interwebs. The result is charming, intimate and wholly unique. Restorations’ session is no different. Check out (and download) the band’s telephone renditions of “Nonlocality” and “Canadian Club” and read about the quintet’s evolution, its “ah-ha!” moment during the writing process and how these eight exceptional songs pretty much fell into the unbelievably lucky lap of Tiny Engines.

And don’t forget that you can still download free mp3s for “Broken Vacuum” and “Neighborhood Song” courtesy of RCRD LBL and Epitonic.com, respectively.

Finally, Restorations will be recording a brand new song for the COMPassion Project, a benefit compilation assembled by Parrot On A Porch Records. All proceeds will go directly to assist with tsunami relief efforts in Japan. Available exclusively at Bandcamp beginning on April 12th, the comp boasts an impressive lineup featuring the likes of Samiam, Jonah Matranga, Chamberlain, J. Robbins, Rival Schools, Codeseven, Frontier(s), Walter Schreifels, Kevin Devine, Joshua, Jamie Woolford, Gracer, Atlantic/Pacific and more.

Restorations – Pre-Order New LP / Song Premier On Epitonic.com Relaunch

By , 8 March, 2011, No Comment

RESTORATIONS – New 12″ Available for Pre-Order
——————————————————————————————————

Self-Titled LP out April 19, 2011 on Tiny Engines
• Early digital release date (March 22, 2011)
• “Neighborhood Song” premiers on Epitonic.com site relaunch (free mp3)
• “West River” featured on new Burning Building Recordings comp (stream)

——————————————————————————————————

Tiny Engines (Tigers Jaw, CSTVT, Look Mexico) is excited to announce that the highly anticipated Self-Titled debut full-length from Philadelphia’s RESTORATIONS is now available for pre-order.

The upcoming eight-song LP is limited to a pressing of 500 (300 x black 180 gram, 150 x clear / yellow swirl, 50 x clear / black swirl) and features gatefold jackets with art and design by Bruno Guerreiro. The official street date for the vinyl is April 19th, 2011. However, pre-orders will ship several weeks in advance. Additionally, the record will get an early March 22nd digital release date via iTunes and Bandcamp. For more information, go here.

To celebrate the pre-order, Tiny Engines and Restorations have teamed up with Epitonic.com on the venerable site’s long-awaited relaunch event – which happens to be the 12th anniversary of the day it originally launched in 1999 – to premier a free mp3 for “Neighborhood Song.” Including Restorations, twelve bands are debuting new music exclusively at Epitonic, including The Wrens, Marissa Nadler, Bloodiest, STRFKR, Braids, Withered Hand and more.

In its heyday, Epitonic was one of the Web’s first and most beloved editorial music discovery sites, with over 500,000 unique monthly visitors, love from countless bands and labels, a Wired “Best Music Site” nomination and a Webby Award. Hard times forced it into dormancy in 2004, but after a successful Kickstarter campaign, the new Epitonic.com promises to recapture the spirit of the original by curating and filtering underground music while utilizes new technology and features that were unfathomable when the site was first built.

In addition to the free mp3 download at Epitonic.com, you can stream yet another new Restorations track (“West River”) at Burning Building Recordings. The Seattle label recently announced “We Love This Comp.” Vol. 1 (out March 29th) which features songs from the likes of Daniel G. Harmann & the Trouble Starts, You.May.Die.in.the.Desert, Post Harbor and more.

Of course, don’t forget to check out the stream for “When You’re Older” which premiered at Alternative Press last week, as well as an mp3 for “Broken Vacuum” at RCRD LBL.

Recorded by Algernon Cadwallader‘s Joe Reinhart (My Heart To Joy, Monument, Snowing) and mixed by Jonathan Low (Dr. Dog, Danielson, mewithoutYou), the Self-Titled LP is the follow up to Restorations’ 2010 EP Strange Behavior on Paper + Plastick, as well as the band’s recent 7″ split with Rosetta (Cavity Records) and debut 7″ Of Trees / Frankford on Evil Weevil Records.

- Occupying a niche firmly planted between the aggression of hardcore, the earnestness of mid-western roots rock, and the jangly, shoegazing intelligentsia of indie, Restorations sound unlike any other band I’ve heard in quite some time. The Ripple Effect

TINY ENGINES to Release Debut LP from RESTORATIONS
——————————————————————————————————

* Self-Titled 12″ out April 19, 2011
* Vinyl Pre-Order coming soon
* Download “Broken Vacuum” from RCRD LBL
* Stream “When You’re Older” at Alternative Press

——————————————————————————————————

TINY ENGINES (Tigers Jaw, CSTVT, Look Mexico) is excited to announce that on April 19th, 2011, it will release the highly anticipated Self-Titled debut full-length from Philadelphia’s RESTORATIONS.

Recorded by Algernon Cadwallader‘s Joe Reinhart (My Heart To Joy, Monument, Snowing) and mixed by Jonathan Low (Dr. Dog, Danielson, mewithoutYou), the Self-Titled LP is the follow up to Restorations’ 2010 EP Strange Behavior on Paper + Plastick, as well as the band’s recent 7″ split with Rosetta on Cavity Records. The brand new eight-song effort will be limited to 500 vinyl LPs (300 x black 180 gram, 150 x clear w/ yellow swirl, 50 x clear w/ black swirl) and features gatefold jackets with art and design by Bruno Guerreiro.

Look for pre-orders to launch next week, as well as an early digital release date via iTunes and Bandcamp near the end of March.

To celebrate the good news, RCRD LBL is debuting the track “Broken Vacuum” today. You can go here for a free mp3 download of the song. Additionally, there is an exclusive stream for the track “When You’re Older” at Alternative Press.

Perhaps that is Restorations’ strength as a cohesive unit – that even though this record is a serious work of art with many subtle complexities, achingly intense moments of restraint and driving need to find a unique voice, it also resonates as if it were an absolute joy to write and perform. Even the pristine production allows the band to maintain a raw, loose aesthetic and foundation-shaking low end that owes a much to the members’ hardcore roots. If you’ve been searching for a thoughtful, nuanced take on punk and indie rock – and all the sub-genres they entail – Restorations might just be your new favorite band.

- Occupying a niche firmly planted between the aggression of hardcore, the earnestness of mid-western roots rock, and the jangly, shoegazing intelligentsia of indie, Restorations sound unlike any other band I’ve heard in quite some time. The Ripple Effect

MONUMENT – Pre-Order Goes Canoeing 12″
——————————————————————————————————

* Vinyl out 03/22/11 from Tiny Engines
* CD + Digital formats available now
* Download “Diamond Age” from RCRD LBL

——————————————————————————————————

Tiny Engines (Tigers Jaw, CSTVT, Look Mexico, Everyone Everywhere) is excited to announce the pre-order for the vinyl release of Goes Canoeing, the highly anticipated debut full-length from Washington, D.C. outfit Monument.

The 12″ is limited to a first pressing of 500 (275 opaque orange / 175 light blue / 50 180 gram black) and will see an official street date of March 22, 2011. However, pre-orders will be shipped several weeks before the release date.

A digital version of the LP is currently available via most only retailers, including iTunes and Bandcamp. Additionally, Monument has self-released Goes Canoeing on CD format. Grab it here or from the band at shows.

To celebrate today’s pre-order, RCRD LBL is debuting the track “Diamond Age.” You can download a free mp3 of the song here. Likewise, you can also snag a free mp3 for “Roots Run Deep” here.

Well worth the wait, Monument’s much buzzed about debut full-length fulfills the potential that the quartet’s 2009 3 song 7″ hinted at and finds its songwriting prowess growing by leaps and bounds. Goes Canoeing isn’t so much a melding of styles but rather the culmination of a vast array of influences, not to mention years of members playing in bands such as The Summer We Went West, Dawn Treader and The Tasty Habits. From, math-y emo, post-punk, noise-pop, grungy 90′s indie rock and even the Dischord-styled hardcore of the band’s D.C. home, Goes Canoeing is as loose and raw as it is infectious and intricately layered. Recorded by Algernon Cadwallader‘s Joe Reinhart, these 10 songs are bursting with acrobatic guitars, spirited gang vocals and uncommonly catchy melodies, all bolstered by Monument’s creativity and undeniable enthusiasm. The first great, essential release of 2011.

Paper + Plastick Signs Restorations

RESTORATIONS joins PAPER + PLASTICK
——————————————————-

* Strange Behavior EP – out digitally May 4th
* 12″ (45rpm) version to be released in June
* New song streaming @ P+P

——————————————————-

Paper + Plastick (A Wilhelm Scream, The Swellers, Cheap Girls, Frank Turner, Shook Ones) is excited to welcome Philadelphia’s Restorations to its impressive, ever-growing roster of bands.

Featuring members of the sorely missed Jena Berlin, Restorations’ debut EP, Strange Behavior, was recorded by Algernon Cadwallader’s Joe Reinhart and will be released digitally by the Gainesville label on May 4th via iTunes and other digital retailers, and then on 12-inch vinyl in late June.

The first offering from the four-song EP, “Title Track,” is now featured in the streaming media player on Paper + Plastick’s home page. Go here to listen.

On a related note, both songs from the Restorations’ latest 7-inch, Of Trees / Frankford, which was released earlier this year by Evil Weevil Records, are streaming here.

Restorations occupies a truly rarefied air, existing somewhere between indie rock’s off-kilter jangle, the dynamic nature of punk and hardcore, shoegaze’s contemplative restraint and the breeziness of a front porch romp through rustic Americana. There’s a taut, electrified undercurrent that keeps Strange Behavior tense and ominous – and maybe even a little dangerous-sounding – but the Philly quintet still manages to exude warmth and earnestness throughout the duration. These four songs envelope the listener in Jon Loudon’s gravely, soulful vocals and the band’s pulsing, fuzzy indie stylings. You’ll lose yourself in atmospheric peaks and valleys while Restorations keep you on edge with songs that burn slowly before careening down unexpected, yet always exciting avenues.

WE WERE SKELETONS joins TOPSHELF RECORDS
——————————————————————————–

* Self-Titled LP / CD out June 29, 2010
* MACRoCk / Shows with Pianos Become The Teeth
* Rooftops vinyl pre-order starts April 1st

——————————————————————————–

Topshelf Records (Defeater, My Heart To Joy, Pianos Become The Teeth) is stoked to announce the signing of We Were Skeletons from Lancaster, PA. The label will release the band’s newest Self-Titled album on June 29th on LP and CD format. Look for pre-orders to begin around the first of May.

We Were Skeleton’s brand of screamy, chaotic hardcore should appeal to long-time fans of the genre. The album was recorded with Will Killingsworth (Orchid, Ampere) at Dead Air Studios and is the band’s greatest accomplishment to date. Imagine City of Caterpillar, Kidcrash, Off Minor and Hot Cross, all rolled into one breathtaking statement. This is an record that must be heard!

The band will be playing MACRoCk this upcoming weekend and also has several April shows lined up with label mates Pianos Become The Teeth.

In other Top Shelf news, the Vinyl Pre-Order for Rooftops’ debut album, A Forest Of Polarity, starts this Thursday (04/01/10). No April Fools joke here!

Rooftops takes its brand of intricate math pop and layers it generously with acoustic guitars, horns, strings and percussion. The resulting arrangements create an impressive sound uniting math rock and post rock into something bold, new and exciting. The band adds vocals to the mix only sparingly but at brilliantly timed intervals for maximum effect. It is the bold, unbridled enthusiasm of math rock harnessed only by the restraints and subtle nuances of post rock. A Forest Of Polarity is the sound of two becoming one. Can you hear it?

The band is streaming songs from A Forest Of Polarity on its Myspace page. Additionally, you can download an mp3 for the song “Raft Easily” here.
