A-F Records Announce Anti-Flag’s “20 Years of Hell” Split 7-inch Series Volume 2 / “Bring Out Your Dead” Re-Recording Song Premiere On Alternative Press

By , 4 October, 2013, No Comment

A-F Records Announce All Dinosaurs For Volume 2 of Anti-Flag‘s “20 Years of Hell” Split 7-inch Series / Anti Flag’s “Bring Out Your Dead” Re-Recording Premiere On Alternative Press

——————————————————————————————————

2013 marks the 20th year of Anti-Flag and also the beginning of a new chapter in the history of A-F Records. To commemorate this, the label/band is excited to announce the “20 Years of Hell” 7” vinyl/online subscription series. These special one of a kind records will be hand numbered, have screened die cut covers, and are limited to 500.

Anti-Flag and A-F Records are stoked to announce that Vol. 2 of the Split 7-inch series is with Cleveland’s All Dinosaurs. “20 Years of Hell: Vol. 2” features two re-recorded and re-envisioned Anti-Flag tracks as well as two re-mastered tracks from All Dinosaurs’ A-F records debut LP, Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior. You can stream the re-recording of “Bring Out Your Dead” exclusively on Alternative Press. The song originally appeared on Anti-Flag’s 2001 LP,Underground Network.

Chris2 of Anti-Flag had this to say about All Dinosaurs:

“The combination of their rust belt work ethic and understanding of when to push themselves musically and when to allow a song to be simple were the first things to inspire me about All Dinosaurs… I hear sonic kinship to Propaghandi…fast, brutal, without being a “metal” band. At times on the record they’ll fall into almost folk rhythms and build that shit into the sickest riffs. Road dogs without a care for the confines of genre, they’re a band who can and will play for everyone and with everyone.”

Placeholder – Pre-Order New LP On Black Numbers / Song Premiere on Absolute Punk

By , 26 August, 2013, 4 Comments

Placeholder – New LP On Black Numbers Available For Pre-Order / Song Premiere On Absolute Punk

• I Don’t Need Forgiveness LP out 9/17/13 on Black Numbers
• “Above” Song Premiere On Alternative Press
• RIYL: Balance & Composure, Hot Water Music, Polar Bear Club, Far, Further Seems Forever

——————————————————————————————————

The sophomore LP from Harrisburg, PA’s Placeholder, entitled I Don’t Need Forgiveness, is now available for Pre-Order from Black Numbers. The LP was recorded earlier this year and engineered by Justin Pizzoferrato (Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth). The album will see an official release on September 17, 2013 on the Jersey City label.

You can now stream “Caught In The Crown” from I Don’t Need Forgiveness on Absolute Punk now. Also, you can stream the first single, “Above”, on Alternative Press.

Placeholder originally formed under the moniker Coastal in March 2011. After playing together in various bands in the past, the band quickly bonded and began writing/recording. The band’s first demo/EP, Demonstration, was released in the Summer of 2011. Placeholder quickly entered the studio in the Fall to record their debut full-length. Titled Nothing Is Pure, and released in December of 2011, Placeholder made a giant splash on their proper debut. Staying busy, the band followed their debut LP up with the 2012 EP,Thought I Would Have Been Somebody By Now, once again delivering on the promise of their earlier releases. The band strikes a chord with their heavy and melodic brand of songwriting. Playing emotionally intense post-hardcore, Placeholder echo modern bands such as Balance & Composure and Polar Bear Club while paying homage to their past influences. Mature, focused and full of determination, Placeholder leave quite the impression.

Housed in a beautiful hand-screened chip-board jacket, this record is a perfect modern-day addition to all those 90s emo records that have worn thin on your turntable from years and feelings long passed.

With his critically acclaimed 2012 debut LP, Longing, behind him, Tyler Daniel Bean returns with Everything You Do Scares Me—a 2 song 7″ that examines the deep-seated effects of loss and our innate ability to accept life’s ebb and flow in and out of normalcy. Housed in a beautiful hand-screened chip-board jacket, this record is a perfect modern-day addition to all those 90s emo records that have worn thin on your turntable from years and feelings long passed.

Lyrically and musically, these songs portray the fleeting sadness and the necessary sorrow that we must embrace before looking to the inevitable future. These songs are surely sad, but they are sad in a profound and thoughtful way.

BANQUETS – New Album Now Streaming on Punknews / Available for Pre-Order From BLACK NUMBERS

• Self-Titled LP out 5/7/13 on Black Numbers / Pre-Orders available now
• “Call It A Comeback” Video Premiere on Alternative Press
• Upcoming Fest appearances & record release shows announced

——————————————————————————————————

You can now stream the sophomore Self-Titled LP from Jersey City’s Banquets on Punknews. The album will see an official release date of May 7, 2013 and is available now for Pre-Order viaBlack Numbers. This is the follow-up to the band’s debut LP, Top Button, Bottom Shelf, which came out on Black Numbers in 2011.

The band also recently premiered the video for the album’s first single. “Call It A Comeback” was directed by Kevin Slack (Gaslight Anthem, Cursive, Bouncing Souls) and can be viewed onAlternative Press.

Following up their brilliant debut LP, 2011’s Top Button, Bottom Shelf, Banquets return with a Self-Titled sophomore effort that continues the band’s no filler approach. Much like its predecessor,Self-Titled clocks in at 10 songs under 30 minutes but there is a bit more breathing room here as the band expands and hones their sound. Along with guitarist/vocalist, Dave Frenson and bassist Christ Larsen, the addition of Brian Maguire on drums has been key to the band’s growth. Lead singer, Travis Omilian, is the secret weapon though, hiding behind the band’s ultra tight melodic pop/punk. There is a worn romanticism and a nostalgic charm to Omilian’s lyrics. Combined with the band’s dynamic sense of urgency and uplifting spirit, Omilian’s lyrics give Banquets a depth that is rare to find in the genre these days. Self-Titled truly encompasses the band’s growth into a songwriting tour de force.

The band is confirmed for two Fest appearances in May ahead of their release shows, Death To False Hope Fest in Durham, NC and Pouzza Fest in Montreal. Dates are below.

Liquid-like ins & outs, Belgrade dare themselves a slap in the face with the glove of simplicity. A subversively straightforward reverb-fest. Cloaking pop smarts under blankets of echoes bounced off last night’s full moon, still ringing in the squinty-eyed hangover morning. Shimmer and swoon forward and back like a chorus for the night, to consume by day. Anthems for your cloudy nocturnal courage.
