Tapes are limited to 200 (100 Black, 100 yellow) and come with a free digital download. The band features ex-members of Static Radio NJ and current members of Rescuer and Fierce Brosnan.

Crimes recently shot two live-in-studio video sessions at Exeter Studios in NJ. Check out “Something” and “Miserable Fuck”.

From death comes life. So goes the story of Crimes, the new band from ex-members of Static Radio NJ. As Static Radio was coming to an end in 2012, Crimes had already begun to take root. At Fest 11 the long running band played their last show under the Static Radio name. But, the final three members of Static Radio had been hatching plans, recording the Crimes debut EP even before that final Static Radio tour. Wanting a fresh start under a new name the three remaining members of Static Radio sound rejuvenated with Crimes. The band’s debut EP showcases a group revitalized by their new beginning and empowered by moving forward.

The band’s first shows will be playing both Banquets record releases in late May. Show info listed below.

The album will see an official release date of May 7, 2013 and is available now for Pre-Order viaBlack Numbers. This is the follow-up to the band’s debut LP, Top Button, Bottom Shelf, which came out on Black Numbers in 2011.

The band also recently premiered the video for the album’s first single. “Call It A Comeback” was directed by Kevin Slack (Gaslight Anthem, Cursive, Bouncing Souls) and can be viewed onAlternative Press.

Following up their brilliant debut LP, 2011′s Top Button, Bottom Shelf, Banquets return with a Self-Titled sophomore effort that continues the band’s no filler approach. Much like its predecessor,Self-Titled clocks in at 10 songs under 30 minutes but there is a bit more breathing room here as the band expands and hones their sound. Along with guitarist/vocalist, Dave Frenson and bassist Christ Larsen, the addition of Brian Maguire on drums has been key to the band’s growth. Lead singer, Travis Omilian, is the secret weapon though, hiding behind the band’s ultra tight melodic pop/punk. There is a worn romanticism and a nostalgic charm to Omilian’s lyrics. Combined with the band’s dynamic sense of urgency and uplifting spirit, Omilian’s lyrics give Banquets a depth that is rare to find in the genre these days. Self-Titled truly encompasses the band’s growth into a songwriting tour de force.

The band is confirmed for two Fest appearances in May ahead of their release shows, Death To False Hope Fest in Durham, NC and Pouzza Fest in Montreal. Dates are below.

The Here And Now wasn’t really supposed to be a band. It was a just a side of Four Year Strong’s co-song writer Alan Day that never made it to the surface. It is made up of years of song writing that just never felt quite right for the pop-punk styling of Four Year Strong. So, it eventually started to find its own identity, more and more songs were coming and there was no end in sight.

With influences spanning from Neil Young, Tom Petty, and The Beatles to bands like The Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana; The Here And Now is a whirlwind of musical eras all smashed into one heaping pile of good old fashion rock and roll.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Certainly that can be said for LP2 from Banquets. Following up their brilliant debut LP, 2011′s Top Button, Bottom Shelf, Banquets return with a Self-Titled sophomore effort that continues the band’s no filler approach. Much like its predecessor, Self-Titled clocks in at 10 songs under 30 minutes and rarely comes up for air. This is amped up and ultra melodic pop/punk with a dynamic sense of urgency and uplifting spirit. The Jersey City boys surely know how to pump out the sing alongs and they do so with such a genuine and honest approach. This is believing against all odds. This is living your life without looking back. “Stay young, stay loud, stay brash and bold” as the lyrics go on the Self-Titled album closer, “Daggers”. Now that deserves a fist pump!

Homelife – Premiere New Video on Alternative Press

Homelife – “Unsteady Hands” Video Premiere on Alternative Press

Translation Available Now
• “Unsteady Hands” Video Premiere on Alternative Press
• Name-Your-Price Download Available Now
• Full Album Stream on Punknews.org

——————————————————————————————————

Alternative Press is premiering a brand new video from Lansing, MI’s Homelife today. The track, “Unsteady Hands”, appears on the band’s debut full-length, Translation. You can view the video here. The LP is available from Black Numbers (Grey Area, Go Rydell, Luther, PJ Bond) and Bermuda Mohawk (Cheap Girls, Tin Horn Prayer, imadethismistake).

The 12″ vinyl for Homelife’s Translation is limited to 500 on black vinyl and is available for Order now. You can hear “Viewfinder” on Alternative Press while a full album stream of Translation is available on Punknews.org. Translation is also being offered for a Name-Your-Price download here.

Homelife is also excited to announce they will be opening for The Jealous Sound and Daytrader September 26th @ The Loft in Lansing, Michigan.

Carrying the torch for rugged Midwest bands into the next generation of punk rock, Homelife is expanding upon its forebears with 2012 full-length debut, Translation. Since forming in 2009 in the same rugged plains and college towns around Lansing, MI as like-minded acts such as Small Brown Bike and Cheap Girls, the band’s debut full-length album marks not only a progression for Homelife and its members’ roots in hardcore acts, but for the genre itself.

Translation follows up Homelife’s 2011 split with Bike Tuff as well as their 2009 Demo. Both can be downloaded for free here.

While the members’ hardcore background is still on display in some aspects of Translation (most of the songs clock-in the 2:30 range and sound best played LOUD), the sparkling and sharply-cut dynamics on display have set the ideal background for Weston’s unique delivery and lyrics that throwback to the sincerity of 90’s favorites such as Jawbreaker, Knapsack (whom the band covers here), and The Promise Ring. Taking a number of sonic risks, beyond what its peers may have been comfortable with, represented a monstrous swing from Homelife and a clear homerun with Translation, which is almost certain to gain traction one of the best surprise debut LP’s in punk rock that 2012 will have to offer.

——————————————————————————————————

* In support of Siblings & Sevens & 4-Way Split
* Both releases available now on Black Numbers

——————————————————————————————————

Luther (Philadelphia, PA) are heading out on tour in support of the band’s newest release, the 4-Way Split with The Copyrights, Grey Area & The Reveling released on Black Numbers recently. The tour will also be in support of their 2011 release, Siblings & Sevens. You can check out the full album stream of the 4-Way Split on Punknews now as well as the exclusive song stream for Luther’s “The Door Is A Penthouse” which is streaming at AMP.

Forming in late 2010 Luther bring back memories of a simpler and more organic time in rock music. While making no attempts to hide their punk rock roots Luther replace the overt aggression flooding the current world of punk with passion and a sincere sense of urgency. Living in South Philadelphia, Luther’s exposure to the city’s diverse music scene creates a varied sound that results in a refreshing mixture of indie, punk rock, post-hardcore and pop. Luther’s brand of songwriting comes with a natural nervousness that is layered with harmonies and an abstract approach to lyrics, all on top of a driving and unified rhythm section.

You can download the tour poster here. As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with the band, please drop me a line here.

Banquets – New Video Premier at Alternative Press

BANQUETS – Releases Video For “Sometimes A Wolf”
——————————————————————————————————

* Premiering exclusively at Alternative Press
* Top Button, Bottom Shelf available now
* Upcoming Winter shows

——————————————————————————————————

BANQUETS (Jersey City, NJ) has unveiled the video for “Sometimes A Wolf,” a track from the band’s debut full-length, Top Button, Bottom Shelf, on Black Numbers (Grey Area, Go Rydell, Luther, PJ Bond). The video was directed by Kevin Slack (The Gaslight Anthem, Dave Hause). You can watch the exclusive premier of the video courtesy of Alternative Press.

Top Button, Bottom Shelf is available now. The vinyl was limited to 500 on three different colorways (100 Pink w/ Black Swirl, 150 Blue w/ Silver Swirl, 250 Yellow w/ Blue Swirl). A limited edition CD version is also available here. You can download Top Button, Bottom Shelf for $6 at the Black Numbers’ Bandcamp. Of course, the album is also available digitally from iTunes and other online retailers.

You can still head over to Rock Sound to hear/download “The Sound Of Money”. RCRD LBL has an exclusive mp3 for the track “Fireplug” as well. Additionally, you can also stream the track “Forever Bender” at Punknews.org.

Top Button, Bottom Shelf blows all expectations and pre-conceived notions out of the water. The ten songs that make up the band’s debut full-length build and hold the momentum for an incredibly rewarding and all too short 25 minutes. Waiting for some lull or filler to catch your breath is fruitless as the band delivers gem after gem. Of course you can talk of the band’s pedigree, Banquets lead singer Travis Omilian was the original singer for Let Me Run and other members have played in bands such as Outsmarting Simon, Static Radio NJ, The Stand In and The Banner, but all that undersells just how quickly Banquets have grown into their very own exciting entity. No doubt the past experiences served them well but Banquets have upped the ante for all melodic pop/punk rock with Top Button, Bottom Shelf.

Banquets has four shows on the horizon with Ignite, Grey Area, Saves The Day, Senses Fail and Ensign.

PJ Bond – Song Premier @ Alternative Press / European Tour

PJ BOND – Song Premier: Video / Download at Alternative Press

Watch live video / Download mp3 forI’m In A Bad Way
• Two additional tracks to debut @ Alternative Press in coming weeks
• Currently touring Europe, UK (11/13 – 12/20)

——————————————————————————————————

The well-traveled PJ Bond has teamed up with Alternative Press to premier a brand new song, “I’m In A Bad Way.” You can watch PJ and his brother, Brian Bond, perform the track live in Lynchburg, Virginia on a stopover during their recent tour to the FEST in Gainesville, FL. The song can also be downloaded in mp3 format here.

This new offering – which will likely appear on a TBD 2012 vinyl release from Black Numbers – is one of three new songs that will make their debut at Alternative Press over the course of the next two weeks. Check back to the magazine’s website on November 19th and 26th for video / mp3 premiers of “Nevermind” and “Reasons.”

Included with the premier of “I’m In A Bad Way” are the lyrics and a written intro from the always-insightful Bond as he discusses playing music, traveling the world and the overwhelming generosity of the folks he’s met along the way. He also gives a detailed description of the songwriting process and how it came to fruition. It’s an engaging read from a man whose lifestyle and choices not only embody the true nature of Punk Rock but who is always searching for new and creative ways to connect with music fans and people in general.

On that note, Bond is once again circling the globe, this time playing shows across Europe and the UK for the next five weeks. Tour dates are below and as always, if you’d like to attend a show, talk to PJ or maybe give him a couch to crash on, email me here or contact PJ directly here.

PJ Bond is the former front man for Outsmarting Simon (Triple Crown Records) and Marigold, and the New Brunswick, NJ native has also played in The Color Fred and Communipaw. His last two releases – the 2009 full-length You Didn’t Know I Was Alphabetical and a more recent 7-song live EP, 22 April: Vienna, Austria – are available in various formats from Black Numbers. Bond’s homespun brand of indie rock and Americana is a lush and organic affair, punctuated by strikingly honest lyrics that are deeply personal yet touch on universally understood themes. If you’re able to catch him live, you’ll be treated to a heartfelt slice of creaky, back porch Americana tossed against a perfectly catchy pop backdrop. Still, Bond tosses in a bit of everything, from rustic, uptempo alt-country rockers to haunting, melancholy acoustic offerings and sweetly infectious indie numbers. For fans of Rocky Votolato, Neutral Milk Hotel, Whiskeytown and Elliott Smith.

Luther – On Tour

By , 13 October, 2011, No Comment

LUTHER – Fall Tour (OCT 14 – NOV 15)
——————————————————————————————————

* In support of Siblings & Sevens
* 12″ available now on Black Numbers
* CD available from UK label Disconnect Disconnect

——————————————————————————————————

Luther (Philadelphia, PA) are heading out on tour in support of the band’s newest release, Siblings & Sevens. Luther will be playing shows with an amazing itinerary of bands that includes Anti-Flag, Banner Pilot, Broadway Calls, Dead To Me, Spraynard, The Bouncing Souls, The Great Explainer, The Holy Mess, Timeshares and Tom May (The Menzingers).

Siblings & Sevens was released on 12″ vinyl via Black Numbers (Grey Area, Go Rydell, Banquets) in August. The vinyl is limited to 500 on three different colorways (100 x opaque blue / 200 x opaque white / 200 x opaque gold). A limited edition CD version is available from UK label, Disconnect Disconnect. Of course, Siblings & Sevens is also available digitally from Bandcamp, iTunes and other online retailers. For more information, go here.

You can still hit up a bunch of exclusive streams and downloads at various sites. Head over to Rock Sound to hear “This Is Like Fight Club”. Additionally, RCRD LBL premiered “There’s Always Money” and you can still download an exclusive mp3 for the song here. And don’t forget that “The Communion” is still streaming at Absolute Punk as well.

Coming out swinging, Luther have played over 30 shows, an east coast tour, and recorded a 12 inch with producer Jeff Zeigler (Kurt Vile, The War on Drugs) within a four month period.

As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with the band, please drop me a line here.

THE REVELINGNervous Energies Session Posted
——————————————————————————–

• Featuring two songs from Tributaries (out on Black Numbers)
Test Pressing Contest: win limited-edition vinyl & more
• SIRIUS XM Takeover on Faction’s DIY Radio (9/18)
Record release show this Thursday (9/8)

——————————————————————————–

The Reveling (Brooklyn, NY) recently teamed up with Nervous Energies to film an acoustic performance of two new songs from its debut full-length Tributaries. The session, which features the tracks “Charlotte Thompson” and “Unglued,” are now posted on the site and can be viewed here.

Released by Black Numbers (Grey Area, Static Radio NJ, Go Rydell, PJ Bond) earlier this summer, Tributaries was pressed on both CD and 12″ vinyl formats, with the latter being limited to 500 on three colorways (100 x clear / 150 x green / 250 x blue) and featuring gatefold jackets and an mp3 download card. The record is also available digitally from Bandcamp, iTunes and other online retailers. For more information or to grab a copy, go here.

On that note, The Reveling is currently sponsoring a contest for limited, hand-numbered vinyl test pressings of Tributaries, as well as the CD version of the record. Enter now and the band will choose three random winners on September 12th.

In other news, at 8pm on September 18th, The Reveling will host DIY Radio on Faction (SIRIUS XM Channel 41). The band’s guest spot will feature an hour of great independent and punk music, including songs from RVIVR, Dead To Me, Make Do And Mend, Grey Area, Red City Radio, Banquets and many more.

Finally, the official record release show for Tributaries is happening tomorrow (9/8) in NYC at The Local 269. Details below. As always, if you’d like to attend the show or speak with the band, drop me a line here.

Record Release Show
——————————————————————————————————

SEP 08 – New York, NY @ The Local 269, 269 E Houston St, 7pm, $7, 21+ w/ Luther, Nightmares For A Week, William Manning

Recorded by Alex Newport (Frank Turner, At The Drive-In, Rival Schools, Samiam) at Big Blue Meenie and Futureshock Studios, and mastered by Jeff Lipton (Arcade Fire, Dead Milkmen, Piebald, Sebadoh), Tributaries features 10 tracks of propulsive, highly infectious working-class punk rock that is as catchy and immediate as it is textured and nuanced. Much like The Reveling’s well-received 2009 EP, 3D Radio, this new full-length is anchored by a punchy rhythm section and plenty of throw-your-fists-in-the-air anthems. Still, Tributaries finds the band in top songwriting form, tighter and more cohesive than ever, with an even greater emphasis on the soaring harmonies that made The Reveling so irresistible in the first place.

While Banquets’ debut 7″, 2010′s This Is Our Concern, Dude, was very well-received and showed off a wealth of potential, Top Button, Bottom Shelf simply blows all expectations and pre-conceived notions out of the water.
