Cayetana Joins Tiny Engines

Cayetana Joins Tiny Engines

• Writing for Debut LP / Recording this Summer
• Demo EP featured on If You Make It
• Cayetana playing Waxahatchee release show/party with Swearin’ and Radiator Hospital
• Tom May of The Menzingers recommends…

——————————————————————————–

Tiny Engines (Dikembe, Restorations, Tigers Jaw) is thrilled to welcome Philadelphia’s Cayetana to their growing roster. The band debuted theirDemo EP in December 2012 and it was quickly met with rave reviews from the punk community. If You Make It recently featured Cayetana’s Demo in their albums section. You can download it for free (donations encouraged!)HERE.

Cayetana is currently writing and playing shows in preparation of recording their debut LP this Summer for Tiny Engines. A Fall release is tentatively scheduled for the album. On Friday, March 1st Cayetana will be a part of the Waxahatchee release show/party along with Swearin’ and Radiator Hospital at The Golden Tea House. More tour dates coming soon!

Long time listeners, first time callers “Cayetana” have been around the Philadelphia music scene for quite a while. These three ladies came together about a year ago, which also happens to be when they started playing their instruments. This has let them develop a chemistry that takes other bands years to achieve, if at all. They’ve jumped head first with their clothes on into the pool at the raging party that is the Philadelphia punk scene. Their self-released demo/e.p. is quite the piece of ear candy. The contemplative and sometimes poignant lyrics delivered in a sincere and oft-urgent croon are perfectly complimented with a locked-in rhythm section comprising of melodious bass lines and driven, hoppy work on the skins. You can expect to hear a lot more from Cayetana in the coming months. Have a listen.

Big Awesome – Birdfeeder 7″ Available For Pre-Order

Big AwesomeBirdfeeder 7″ Available For Pre-Order

Birdfeeder 7″ out 12/12/12 on Baby Moon Records
Birdfeeder EP featured on If You Make It
• Upcoming Tour Dates with Henriettain December

——————————————————————————–

Big Awesome self-released Birdfeeder online earlier this year and now the EP is being given a proper release via Baby Moon Records on 7″ vinyl. Pre-Orders are now live and vinyl will be shipping in December. There are a limited number of transparent orange and coke bottle clear records. The first 60 orders will receive colored vinyl. Your pre-order comes with an instant digital download of the EP. Falling somewhere awesomely between Algernon Cadwallader, Minus The Bear and Samiam, Big Awesome’s brand of punk infused emo rock stands out as completely memorable in an oversaturated genre.

The good folks at If You Make It featured Big Awesome’s Birdfeeder in their albums section. You can download it for free (donations encouraged!) HERE. If You Make It had this to say about Birdfeeder: “It’s the perfect record for a beautiful fall and helps fill the void created by Algernon Cadwallader’s recent demise.”

The band recently played The Fest in Gainesville in October and will be playing a few Southeastern dates with Henrietta in December. You can check the tour poster here.

Winter Tour
——————————————————————————–

DEC 18 – Savannah, GA @ Taco Abajo
DEC 19 – Myrtle Beach, SC @ @ The Sound Hole
DEC 20 – Wilmington, NC @ House Show
DEC 21 – Richmond, VA @ Bauhaus Haus
DEC 22 – Charleston, SC @ The Sparrow

Big Awesome’s smooth, melodic layers and delicate sense of dynamics verify that technical control can evoke more meaningful emotion than animalistic abandon. And on Birdfeeder, the band’s self-released four-song EP, they demonstrate this with a dexterity that is both obvious and difficult to define. In a genre that capitalizes on harsh, startling aesthetics to express itself, Big Awesome makes music that combines power with finesse. No, it’s not necessarily as loud, but Birdfeeder feels denser and more memorable, more dynamic and meticulous, and captures more accurately the complex nature of emotion. Sure, those harsher songs may allow the listener to express something primitive; Big Awesome’s songs summon the same, but add to it something more cerebral, making these songs, perhaps, even more human than the most barbaric tracks.

Proudly hailing from Bluffton, SC, Big Awesome self-released the Birdfeeder EP earlier this year. Falling somewhere awesomely between Algernon Cadwallader, Minus The Bear and Samiam, Big Awesome’s brand of punk infused emo rock stands out as completely memorable in an oversaturated genre.

BIO
——————————————————————————–

Known for its tireless work ethic and resolute DIY attitude, Run, Forever has spent much of the last two years on the road, playing to enthusiastic fans in tiny clubs, sweaty basements and crowded house shows around the country. From fist-pumping, sing-along punk anthems to swinging folk rockers to more intimate acoustic numbers, the outfit’s songs touch on issues such as the corruption of organized religion, politics and – on its debut – the struggle to overcome the tragic loss of former band mate. Run, Forever never fails to impress with its ability to write driving, gritty tunes without sacrificing melody or falling into predictability, and its music is one of those rare specimens that resonates profoundly in both our ears and our hearts.

Campaign – New 7″ Available Now on No Breaks Records

CAMPAIGN New 7″ Available Now
——————————————————————————————————

* One Night Weekend available now from No Breaks Records
* Songs streaming here
* Campaign’s previous three EPs still available for free download

——————————————————————————————————

Atlanta’s CAMPAIGN is excited to announce the availability of a new 7″ release, One Night Weekend. The release is a joint effort between the band’s own Dick Party Records and their friends at No Breaks Records.

The 1st pressing will be limited to 300 copies with the first 100 on clear red vinyl and is available for order now here. You can stream both songs here.

One Night Weekend is the follow up to the band’s 2011 EP, Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!, which can be downloaded from If You Make It. Also, you can still download the band’s first two EPs, 2010’s It Likes To Party and 2009’s H1N1, for free here.

Practicing a heavier approach, Campaign’s songs take on a whole new life often moving into thicker post-hardcore waters. The melody remains front and center in Campaign’s passionate hardcore anthems but the band has added new dimensions to their sound. The anger and vitriol have been ratcheted up a notch here as the dynamic five-piece sounds downright combustible.

Also, Campaign just finished recording their next proper EP, to be called The Black Album. The EP will be available digitally and on vinyl this coming Summer and will also be a joint Dick Party/No Breaks release. Stay tuned.

* Short Summer Tour (8/10 – 8/14)
* Campaign added to Southeastern Hardcore Fest and The Fest 10
* Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! available for Free Download on If You Make It
* Campaign performs Nervous Energies session

——————————————————————————————————

CAMPAIGN (Atlanta, GA) are heading out for a short East Coast tour in support of the band’s newest EP, Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!. The band’s third EP is available for free download exclusively on If You Make It. Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! is the band’s follow-up to their highly-acclaimed 2010 EP, It Likes To Party.

In addition to these upcoming shows, Campaign have been added to the Southeastern Hardcore Fest in Chattanooga, TN in September and The Fest 10 in Gainesville.

Make sure you check out the Nervous Energies session the band performed earlier this year. Additionally, Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! and It Likes To Party are both streaming exclusively on Punknews.org.

With Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!, Campaign moves forward with their sound while still paying homage to their influences. Comparisons to beardcore favorites is inevitable but these four new songs move Campaign beyond all the usual suspects. Practicing a heavier approach, the band’s songs take on a whole new life often moving into thicker post-hardcore waters. The melody remains front and center in Campaign’s passionate hardcore anthems but the band has added new dimensions to their sound. The anger and vitriol have been ratcheted up a notch here as the dynamic five-piece sounds downright combustible. With Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Campaign prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are indeed the real deal.

Also, you can still download the band’s previous EPs, 2010’s It Likes To Party and 2009’s H1N1, for free here. How’s that for instant gratification!?

Campaign is heading out for select East Coast dates in support of Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! playing shows with Off With Their Heads, Dead To Me, Banquets and Worn In Red.

It’s been a busy summer for The Wild, to say the least. Fresh off a month-long U.S. tour and on the heels of a new Split 7″ with Run, Forever, the Atlanta, GA outfit is celebrating this week’s release of A Collection with a free / donation-based download of the 14-song effort.

Available on CD format from Asian Man Records, the aptly titled A Collection compiles all of The Wild’s out-of-print singles, EPs, live songs and split releases. You can grab a copy of the record from the label here. Only five bucks!

As an added bonus, the band has teamed up with Quote Unquote Records to release the digital version of A Collection as a free / donation-based download. For more info, go here. It’s also worth noting that the digital imprint also released The Wild’s 2010 full-length, Set Ourselves Free.

As if that wasn’t enough awesome free music, the good folks at If You Make It are currently offering The Wild’s recent split 7″ with Run, Forever as a complimentary download. The vinyl version of the record was released a few weeks ago (06/21/11) by Solidarity Recordings. Limited to 500 and pressed on black and color vinyl, you can pick up a copy of the 7″ here.

As previously mentioned, The Wild recently returned from an extensive U.S. tour. While the band is playing Anthony Fest next week and has been confirmed for FEST 10 and Athens Popfest in October, the five piece will spend most of the next few months writing songs for its next full-length.

If you’re interested in receiving a review copy of A Collection or the split 7″, send me an email. A box of both releases just showed up at my doorstep.

Junior Battles – New Video / U.S. Tour

JUNIOR BATTLES – Premiers New Video for “BASEMENTS
——————————————————————————–

* Band discovers ratio of Copyright Infringement to Money Spent directly proportional to Overall Entertainment Value
* U.S Tour w/ O Pioneers!!! begins next week (10/20 -11/04)
* Self-Titled 7″ still available from Square Up Records

——————————————————————————————————

In an attempt to infringe on more copyrights and spend less money in two and a half minutes than any other band has dared in the past, Canadian punk quartet Junior Battles has unveiled the video for “Basements.”

Created by members of the the band in one coffee-fueled night of stealing and editing, the video not only spits in the face of trademark law, but also the memory of nearly every movie from my childhood. To view the zero budget greatness, go here.

“Basements” is the first single from the Toronto outfit’s Self-Titled 7″, which was released earlier this year on Square Up Records. Copies of the vinyl are still available from the label. The 4-song effort can also be downloaded for free from our friends at If You Make It.

Beginning next week, Junior Battles will embark on a two week tour of the U.S. with Houston’s O Pioneers!!!. The bands toured together earlier this year and recently shared a Split 7″ on Kiss Of Death Records.

On a semi-related note, last week an apparently starved-for-content AV Club featured O Pioneers!!! in an article titled “Viva Hate: 15 anti-Morrissey songs.” The accompanying video spotlights a live performance of the song by front man Eric Solomon with 3/4 of Junior Battles as his backing band.

As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with the band, drop me a line here.

Annabel – Summer Tour

ANNABEL – Summer Tour Begins Tomorrow ( May 13 – June 04 )
——————————————————————————–

* In support of Each And Everyone
* Album now streaming on Punknews.org
* Band records new EP / new song posted on Myspace

——————————————————————————–

Beginning tomorrow, Annabel is hitting the road for a Summer Tour that will find the band traveling from the East to the West Coast in the span of three weeks. The Kent, Ohio outfit continues to play shows in support its debut full-length, Each And Everyone, which was released by Count Your Lucky Stars in 2009.

You can currently stream the record in its entirety on Punknews.org. Additionally, Annabel has shot videos for two songs from the album, “As It Happened” and “People & Places.” A third track, “Sleeping Lions,” is available below as a free download as well.

Listen to “Sleeping Lions” ( Free mp3 )

As if that weren’t enough, you can still download the band’s self-released debut EP, Now That We’re Alive, from our friends at If You Make It.

Annabel’s upcoming tour also comes in anticipation of a newly recorded EP, Here We Are Tomorrow. The opening song, “The Forgetting of Names and Faces,” has been posted for your listening pleasure on the band’s Myspace Page. Release details for the EP are TBA.

Following up the success of its self-released EP, Now That We’re Alive, Annabel seizes the momentum with Each And Everyone. Youthful exuberance gives way to thoughtful maturity but the album never lacks the intoxicating energy of the band’s past work. Each And Everyone is noticeably more aggressive as the infectious melodies of the band have become razor sharp. Combining the instrumental dynamics of post rock with driving indie pop gives Annabel a unique charm and displays an outfit on the verge of greatness.

As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with the band, drop me a line here.
