STATE LINES joins TINY ENGINES / New 7″ Out April 2012
——————————————————————————————————

* Recorded with Sainthood Reps’ Bradley Cordero
* Acoustic video of “Win Free”
* Artwork / Tracklisting coming soon
* Vinyl Pre-order coming in March

——————————————————————————————————

Tiny Engines (Tigers Jaw, Restorations, Look Mexico) is thrilled to welcome Long Island, NY’s State Lines to its family. The label will release the band’s upcoming Self-Titled EP on 7″ vinyl in April with pre-orders starting in March. This will be the follow up to State Lines’ debut full-length, Hoffman Manor, which can still be downloaded for free here.

State Lines make quite the first impression as the first chords ring out on their sophomore release. Recorded this Winter with Sainthood Reps’ Bradley Cordaro, these four songs overflow with punk energy while playfully pulling at those pop heartstrings we all possess. But please, don’t throw State Lines up on the shelf with all the other tepid pop/punk out there these days. While State Lines have plenty of youthful spirit they bite deep with lyrical depth. Recalling the early days of Saves The Day and Brand New along with modern bands like Tigers Jaw and Joyce Manor, State Lines will most assuredly establish their own name very quickly.

You can get a sneak peak at “Win Free”, a new song performed acoustically as the guys walk the streets of Long Beach, NY. The video was edited/directed by Mark Sylvester.

Stay tuned for final artwork/tracklisting as well as upcoming song premieres.

“The reason I listen to music is because of bands like State Lines.” Absolute Punk
“Hoffman Manor was undoubtedly the biggest surprise of 2011 for myself and many others.”Sputnik
“These guys are a breath of fresh air in a seemingly stagnant and boring scene.”Jersey Beat
“Hoffman Manor will easily be on my top ten list for album of the year.”Manual Dexterity
“These guys have that unmistakable early 00- era sound that’s reminiscent of the early work of Brand New, Taking Back Sunday and The Early November with a little bit of Tigers Jaw thrown in for good measure.”Bedwetting Cosmonaut

THE FAKE BOYS Join ANIMAL STYLE RECORDS

Pig Factory: New Full-Length out March 27th on vinyl / digital
Alternative Press: Exclusive song stream – “This Is Our Sound
• U.S. / European Tours planned for Spring + Summer

——————————————————————————–

Animal Style Records (Mixtapes, Hold Tight!, Half Hearted Hero, Born Without Bones) is excited to welcome The Fake Boys (Lowell, MA) to its ever-growing family of amazing bands. On March 27th, 2012, the label will issue the outfit’s newest full-length, Pig Factory, digitally and on 12″ vinyl, with the latter being limited to 500 copies on black (100) and translucent pink (400) colorways.

Pig Factory was recorded and produced by Jay Maas (Have Heart, Title Fight, Transit, Polar Bear Club) at Getaway Recording in Wakefield, MA. The album is the trio’s second long-player and the follow-up to This Is Where Our Songs Live, as well as several EPs and split releases. You can check out The Fake Boys’ back catalog on Bandcamp.

To celebrate today’s announcement, Animal Style and The Fake Boys have teamed up with Alternative Press for an exclusive stream of the song “This Is Our Sound.” To listen, go here.

Caught somewhere between the warm, fuzzy hooks of The Smoking Popes, The Descendent’s urgency and aggression, Chavez’s skewed dynamics and the unique melodicism of Jawbreaker, Pig Factory is an undeniably fun, unexpected ride that’s teeming with buzz-saw guitars and a seemingly never-ending supply of sing-along moments. The Fake Boys understand how to evoke the nostalgia of 90′s power-pop and indie rock while diving into modern punk’s pool of tension and ferocity.

Stay tuned for pre-order information in early March, as well as news of a full U.S. Tour in April and Europe later this summer. As always, if you have any questions or would like to speak with the band, drop me a line here.

MUSEUM MOUTH – Release Sexy But Not Happy / Free Download

——————————————————————————————————

* Sexy But Not Happy available for free download @ Bandcamp
* Title track streaming at Alternative Press
* Download “Blood Mountain” at RCRD LBL
* Artwork and track listing released

——————————————————————————————————

Southport, NC indie punk band Museum Mouth have digitally released their sophomore album, Sexy But Not Happy, for free download on Bandcamp.

You can check out the title track which is streaming at Alternative Press as well as download “Blood Mountain” over on RCRD LBL.

Furthermore, you can get the “Blood Mountain” single which includes the B-Side “A Place To Keep You” here. Also, the band did a video treatment for another B-side called “Kitchen Floor” which can be viewed here. If you download Sexy But Not Happy “Kitchen Floor” will be included as a limited bonus track.

While Museum Mouth’s 2010 debut, Tears In My Beer, screamed with youthful abandon, the band’s follow-up, Sexy But Not Happy, shows a group in the midst of growing up. Gone are the female vocals and the excitable naivety of youth. The growth is profound and evidenced by the increased musicianship and arrangements contained within Sexy But Not Happy. Drummer Karl Kuehn has taken over full vocal duties now having perfected his chops in the new-wavey side project, SWTHRT, earlier this year. And you can see the new wave tendencies of Kuehn’s SWTHRT project has colored Museum Mouth with a bit more personality. While Tears In My Beer was raw with excitable angst, Sexy But Not Happy practices a bit more mature contemplation. The band hasn’t abandoned those lo-fi sensibilities though, they have just honed their skills. The rawness has become warmth and Museum Mouth have become experts at their craft. Of course, Museum Mouth still knows how to rile up an indie pop/punk dance floor, just listen to the title track for proof of that. They just do so now with a bit more substance behind all the noise.

——————————————————————————————————

* Winter Tour (1/14-1/30)
* Desolate Peaks to be released by Tiny Engines
* Artwork/Tracklisting coming soon
* Exclusive Song Premier for “Arrowhead” on Alternative Press

——————————————————————————————————

Santa Rosa, CA’s State Faults (formerly Brother Bear) is heading out on tour in support of their upcoming debut full-length, Desolate Peaks. The album will see a Spring release on Tiny Engines (Tigers Jaw, CSTVT, Look Mexico, Restorations).

Head over to Alternative Press to here the exclusive premeiere of “Arrowhead” from Desolate Peaks.

Desolate Peaks will be the follow up to the band’s debut EP, Head In The Clouds, which can still be downloaded for free. You can also check out a demo of the track “Vespers”. A new, re-recorded version of the song will appear on Desolate Peaks.

State Faults consists of four soulmates with a DIY ethic trying to make honest and explosive music. Formed in early 2010, the group immediately began writing and recording music within the cramped confines of a 2nd floor apartment. Huddled together in the California heat, the group created a tightly knit sound, drawing upon elements of 90′s emo and post-hardcore. Those early days gave birth to the band’s impressive self-released debut EP, Head In The Clouds. Released in late 2010, the EP quickly spread through word of mouth and State Faults continue to cultivate a devoted following. In what can only be described as an advancement of the sound created on Head In The Clouds, Desolate Peaks promises to take State Faults to new levels.

Stay tuned for artwork, tracklisting and more exclusive song premieres from State Faults’ Desolate Peaks! The State Faults Winter Tour begins this weekend. Jan 14-26 with Ruptures. More dates to come.

Formerly known as Dear You, Wolves At Bay treads similar progressive punk waters as bands such as Small Brown Bike, Balance And Composure and Make Do And Mend. The quartet builds its songs on a unique foundation of raw enthusiasm and intensity tempered only by a tireless work ethic and thoughtful composition, and Only A Mirror impresses with driving rhythms, gruff-yet-tuneful melodies and dynamic songwriting chops. Produced by Nick Bellmore (Make Do and Mend, Hatebreed, Death Threat), this impressive debut teaming with hard-charging punk anthems, engaging instrumental passages and an overall sense of urgency and purpose.

Signals Midwest – Winter Tour Starts This Week

SIGNALS MIDWEST – Short Winter Tour Announced
——————————————————————————————————

Latitudes And Longitudes 12″ LP out now
• Digitally released via Bandcamp + iTunes
• “The Quiet Persuader” video on Alternative Press

——————————————————————————————————

Cleveland, OH’s Signals Midwest is heading out on tour in support of their sophomore full-length, Latitudes And Longitudes. The album is now available and shipping from Tiny Engines (CSTVT, Look Mexico, Restorations, Tigers Jaw).

The Latitudes And Longitudes vinyl is limited to 500 pressed on three colorways (75 teal / 150 maroon / 275 cream). The digital version is available via Bandcamp and iTunes now.

Signals Midwest recently unveiled the video for “The Quiet Persuader” off Latitudes And Longitudes. You can watch the exclusive premier of the video courtesy of Alternative Press. The video was directed/edited by Aaron Freeder.

Rarely do you come across a young band that startles you with such inherent quality. While Cleveland, Ohio’s Signals Midwest might be rooted in the ethos of punk rock the band quickly transcends the tag both musically and lyrically on their sophomore album, Latitudes And Longitudes. Paying tribute to the continual growth of legends like Small Brown Bike and Fairweather while echoing modern bands such as Balance And Composure and The Menzingers, Signals Midwest provide a unique perspective that resides firmly outside the punk-by-the-numbers formula. Call if post-pop/punk if you will.

Listen to “Limnology” from Latitudes And Longitudes (mp3)

Signals Midwest formed in late 2008 as a trio and issued their first full-length album in 2009. In 2010 the band expanded to a quartet with the addition of a second guitar player. That would be a pivotal move in the band’s collaborative development. Experimenting with and expanding their sound, Signals Midwest quickly outgrew the standard pop/punk pace. With 2011’s Latitudes And Longitudes there is a fleshed out maturity that shines through. Recorded mostly live, the album bristles with the kind of energy and purpose that emanates from a band confidently growing comfortable in their own skin.

The Signals Midwest Winter Tour begins this week. The band will be playing with a handful of great bands including The Lawrence Arms, Restorations, Spraynard, The Holy Mess, Everyone Everywhere, Sundials and Jet Set Sail. As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with the band, please drop me a line here.

WINTER TOUR
——————————————————————————————————

JAN 05 – Pittsburgh, PA @ 222 Ormsby Ave w/ Mace Ballard, Playoff Beard, Edhoculi, Trophies
JAN 06 – Brooklyn, NY @ Suburbia (330 Melrose St.) w/ Living Room, Ma Jolie, Manners, Night Owls, Parkview
JAN 07 – Philadelphia, PA @ The Treehouse w/ Restorations, Glocca Morra, Everyone Everywhere, Jet Set Sail, Ma Jolie (email signalsmidwest@gmail.com for address)
JAN 08 – Washington, D.C. @ Wasted Dream (431 Kenyon St. NW) w/ The Harrison Four
JAN 09 – Richmond, VA @ “House Address” House w/ Hold Tight!, Spraynard, Sundials, Pedals On Our Pirate Ships (email signalsmidwest@gmail.com for address)
JAN 10 – Baltimore, MD @ Charm City Art Space (1731 Maryland Ave.) w/ Foozle!
JAN 11 – Boston (Somerville), MA @ Starlab (32 Prospect St.) w/ Dan Webb & The Spiders, Ridgemont, Kid Bastard
JAN 12 – Bradford, PA @ Homewood Snowboard Factory (57 Holley Ave.) w/ Shady Ave., HisDayHasCome, Squid Vicious
JAN 15 – Cleveland, OH @ The Grog Shop w/ The Lawrence Arms, The Holy Mess, Lord

…the rambunctious, extroverted energy is more reminiscent of NYC favourites Bomb the Music Industry! (“Family Crest”) or Latterman (“Construction Paper”), and Signals Midwest return every break and twist in better shape than when they borrowed it. “Memo” opens moody before turning into a downright pretty, sprawling anthem and a similar build occurs in “I Was Lost,” which eventually sustains an intensity that’s more cathartic than suffocating (bass solo, hello). Its dynamics are powerful and unrelenting, in an exhilarating way; Latitudes and Longitudes is an album that must be taken in all at once, and definitely much more than once.Exclaim

Cattle Drums – Winter Tour Starts This Week

CATTLE DRUMS – Short Winter Tour Announced
——————————————————————————————————

* Winter Tour with Old Shelves (1/4 – 1/13)
* The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3 still available for free download on Bandcamp
* New Demos Available Here
* Band recording debut LP

——————————————————————————————————

Cattle Drums (Oneonta, NY) are heading out for a short Winter tour in support of the band’s debut, The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3, on Tiny Engines (Restorations, Tigers Jaw, CSTVT, Look Mexico).

The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3 is an eight song collection that puts together the original debut of the band with three newer tracks that were recorded near the end of 2010. The EP was digitally released in February 2011 on Tiny Engines and can be downloaded for FREE. Of course you can still download via iTunes as well.

The band recorded new demos in late 2011 that you can listen to here. After this short tour, Cattle Drums will head back into the studio to continue writing/recording for their debut LP which will see a 2012 release.

Remember when indie music was wild and unpredictable? Remember when bands were hard to pigeonhole into neat little sub-genres? Well, Cattle Drums will remind you if you have forgotten. Hailing from upstate NY, you might shrug your shoulders at a band named Cattle Drums but you would be remiss by doing so. Mixing post-punk, emo/hardcore, shards of math rock and even traces of dark Americana, Cattle Drums distinguish themselves as purveyors of a sound not yet recognizable to our pampered, innocent ears. Lyrically ambiguous and instrumentally ambitious with harsh, aggressive tones, Cattle Drums truly are a wild awakening for the senses. These songs truly defy classification and open the listener up to create their own unique interpretation of the Cattle Drums sound. Need a shock to the system to break you from the mundane of the daily grind? Delve into the madness of the Cattle Drums experience and witness a band operating only by their keen sense of artistic expression. Eccentric and chaotic yet always melodic and intoxicating, Cattle Drums are kicking up dust and noise unlike anybody else right now. Just imagine what is yet to come.

The Cattle Drums Winter Tour begins this week.

Playing emotionally intense post-hardcore, Placeholder make a giant splash on their proper debut. Nothing Is Pure echoes modern bands such as Balance & Composure and Polar Bear Club while paying homage to their past influences. Mature, focused and full of determination, Placeholder leave quite the first impression with Nothing Is Pure.

KITE PARTY Joins ANIMAL STYLE RECORDS

Baseball Season: Debut LP out 02/14/12 on vinyl / digital
Alternative Press: Song stream – “Buried In Dogs
• Full album stream @ Bandcamp

——————————————————————————–

Animal Style Records (Mixtapes, Hold Tight!, Half Hearted Hero, Born Without Bones) is excited to welcome Kite Party to its ever-growing family of amazing bands. On February 14th, 2012, the label will issue the Philadelphia outfit’s debut full-length, Baseball Season, digitally and on 12″ vinyl, with the latter being limited to 500 copies on black (100), clear (200) and cream (200) colorways.

Originally self-released by Kite Party in July of 2011 as a show-only CD for an August tour with good friends Tigers Jaw, Baseball Season was recorded and produced by Kyle Pulley (Grandchildren, Dangerous Ponies, Tough Knuckles, Snakes Say Hisss, Band Name) at The Headroom in Philly. The record – which is the follow up Kite Party’s 2009 EP Wish Mountain – features nine engaging songs that mate the inventiveness of indie rock and the playful nature of pop with emo’s tendency toward twinkly, intertwining guitars and epic song structures. The band wraps it all up in a staunch DIY ethic and the spirit of punk, making for a terrific debut that will appeal to music fans across the board.

To celebrate today’s announcement, Animal Style and Kite Party have teamed up with Alternative Press to stream the track “Buried In Dogs.” To listen, go here. You can also stream Baseball Season in its entirety at Kite Party’s Bandcamp page.

Stay tuned for pre-order information in the new year. As always, if you have any questions or would like to speak with the band, drop me a line here.

* Artwork and track listing released

——————————————————————————————————

Columbia, SC indie band Rejectioneers have digitally released their debut EP, 25, for free download on Bandcamp.

Listen to “When It’s Over” (mp3) from 25.

Boasting former members from several prominent SC bands, Rejectioneers offer a mature take on tuneful indie rock. Originally formed in 2007 the band took proper shape in 2009 and spent 2010 practicing and recording. The band emerged to start playing shows again in 2011 and 25 marks Rejectioneers’ highly anticipated debut release. Recalling the beautiful pop simplicity of Nada Surf and The Weakerthans against the rock backbone of Jimmy Eat World and Foo Fighters, Rejectioneers’ impact is nothing short of immediate. With the tasteful crooning of Ben Walker out in front of the band’s refined arrangements, the melodies and emotion shine bright.

Rejectioneers are in the process of writing their debut full-length this Winter. More news to come!
