——————————————————————————–

Friction Records is pleased to announce the new release from Grand Rapids, Michigan’s Charles The Osprey. The band’s debut full-length, Consider, is due out June 29th on the Michigan-based label and is now availble for pre-order.

Limited to 500, Friction is pressing the 12″ LP on orange (250) and army green (250) vinyl, each of which will include a free digital download. To grab your own copy, go here.

Listen to “Scimitar Children and Their Rugs” (free mp3)

“The drum-and-guitar duo’s methodical execution of brain-melting instrumental spazz-rock is likely without peer anywhere. In 2007, Derek Lancioni – a prolific drummer who has performed in bands such as Just For Kicks, Go Josephine and Winnie Cooper teamed with studio-rat guitarist Rafael Ohli to form Charles The Osprey. The duo, Charles to friends, began as a theoretical exercise: If two immensely gifted musicians attempt to perpetually challenge each other on a technical level, can substantial art be created in the process? Lancioni and Ohli’s songs employ non-fancy guitar and drum sounds, but cover impressive dynamic territory as they weave through thickets of changes in time and tempo, some fluid, some jarring, all compelling.” – Troy Reimink / GR Press

On June 26th, Charles The Osprey will be playing a record release show at Founders Brewing in Grand Rapids, Michigan with label mates Ozenza.

Ghost Robot Ninja Bear – New Digital Single Out Today

GHOST ROBOT NINJA BEAR ( feat. Oscar Albis Rodriguez of Nakatomi Plaza ) Releases Second Digital Single
——————————————————————————————————

* Staring At The Clocks b/w Carousel now available as free / pay-what-you-like download
* First Single ( One Pedal To Another b/w Blood, The Tango ) released last March
* Limited-edition CDEP featuring all four songs available at shows
* Recording debut Full-Length in July

——————————————————————————————————

GHOST ROBOT NINJA BEAR, the newest vehicle for Nakatomi Plaza front man Oscar Albis Rodriguez, is back with a second single crammed with post-hardcore excellence. Featuring the songs “Staring At The Clocks” and “Carousel,” the latest release is now available as a free / pay-what-you-like download.

Fans still bemoaning the demise of Nakatomi Plaza can get in on the same kind of guitar pyrotechnics displayed on the so-good-it-hurts albums Unsettled and Ghosts. Rodriguez is back and he is rocking skulls.

Recorded and mixed by Ali Hassan ( Bouncing Souls, The Loved Ones ), with help from Geoff Kraly (bass), drummer Christopher Enriquez ( ex-On The Might Of Princes / Gracer ), as well as Rodriguez’s Ludlow Lions band mate, Brendan Coon ( vocals on “Carousel” ), the two songs perfectly complement Ghost Robot Ninja Bear’s debut single, One Pedal To Another b/w Blood, The Tango, which was released earlier this year in March.

On that note, all four song are available as a limited-edition CDEP at shows only. Your next opportunity to snag one of these bad boys will be on June 27th in Brooklyn. If you’re interested in attending, drop me a line here.

JUN 27 – Brooklyn, NY @ The Acheron w/ Restorations, Bats and Mice, The New Dress, more

Finally, Rodriguez and crew will be recording Ghost Robot Ninja Bear’s debut full-length in July at the newly constructed Guilford Sound in Vermont with Dave Snyder ( Ruth Ruth, Rivington, Nakatomi Plaza ). The album will see a tentative release date in the Fall of 2010.

Ten propulsive, epic-sounding tracks that flow effortlessly between shimmering post-punk numbers, angry folk rockers, intimate tales of redemption and rousing anthems dripping with both hope and dissent, the record is an amazingly cohesive effort that breathes new life into the album format.

The Holy Mess – Benefit Sesh Out Today

THE HOLY MESS – New 7″ Released Today
——————————————————————————————————

* Benefit Sesh out now from Evil Weevil Records
* First track leaked on Bandcamp
* Full album stream on Punknews.org
* Dismount still available for free download on If You Make It

——————————————————————————————————

Benefit Sesh, the latest 7″ from Philly’s THE HOLY MESS, is out today from Evil Weevil Records.

The first pressing of the 2-song 7″ is limited to 300 copies on white vinyl, each containing a digital download that features a bonus third song. Grab yours from the Evil Weevil webstore now.

You can check out “A Soulful Punk Tune About A Working Class Dreamer” on The Holy Mess’ Bandcamp page.

Additionally, Benefit Sesh is now streaming in its entirety at Punknews.org. The venerable website also featured The Holy Mess and pals and label mates, Highlites, in a recent installment of the Band On Band series, which you can read here.

The Holy Mess uses Philadelphia’s rich punk history as an instrumental tapestry for its weathered sound, combining the city’s influences with patented Midwest gruffness and some East Bay pop/punk to complete a winning trifecta. Sure, Benefit Sesh is catchy, but don’t let that scare you off! This is punk rock that’s got more than enough dirt under the fingernails to keep your cred firmly intact.

Don’t forget to grab The Holy Mess’ previous release, Dismount, for free over at If You Make It. You can order the record directly from the band as well.

CAMPAIGN – New EP Available For FREE DOWNLOAD
——————————————————————————–

* It Likes To Party streaming on Punknews
* Band’s 2009 EP, H1N1, also available for free download

——————————————————————————–

Atlanta’s CAMPAIGN has made its 2010 release, It Likes To Party, available for free download. No strings attached … just hot summer jams!

You can also preview the EP now on Punknews or check out the track “Best Luck” (free mp3).

Harkening back to No Idea bands like Hot Water Music and Small Brown Bike, as well as pop-punk from Dillinger Four to the Descendents, Atlanta GA’s Campaign never wavers from a strong melodic backbone. And it is that emphatic melody that pervades the band’s passionate hardcore anthems. These are songs that beg to be shouted at the top of your lungs, yet still breathe with palpable sincerity. The five-piece spreads its pop/punk chops over fistfuls of raging melodic hardcore, and for fans of those genres, It Likes To Party is a damn godsend! Ain’t no party like a Campaign party!

If you can’t get enough Campaign, you can also download the band’s 2009 EP, H1N1, for more fist-pumping sing-alongs!

Solar Bear – New EP / U.S. Tour

SOLAR BEAR – U.S. Tour (June 06 – 24)
——————————————————————————–

* In support of new EP: CAPTAINS OF INDUSTRY
* Out digitally on iTunes / CD available at shows
* Stream entire record @ Westword

——————————————————————————————————

Beginning on Sunday, SOLAR BEAR will embark on a three-week tour of the U.S. in support of its latest release, CAPTAINS OF INDUSTRY. The EP can be purchased digitally via iTunes or directly from the band at shows.

Recorded by Matt Van Leuven at the famed 8 Houses Down ( Teenage Bottlerocket, Discount, Ninja Gun ) in the band’s hometown of Denver, CO, and mixed / mastered by Casey Bates ( Gatsby’s American Dream, Portugal. The Man), Captains Of Industry features six absolutely blistering tracks of angular post-hardcore. With a jagged, multi-layered sound not unlike These Arms Are Snakes or Colorado brethren Fear Before, the four-piece has received plenty of praise from local press.

AV Club Denver wrote, “For all its kicks and screams, Solar Bear is as elegantly complex as it is rowdy. The post-hardcore act embodies a lot of the genre’s early era luminaries, positioning itself as a smart, noisy rock band not afraid of the occasional chugging breakdown,” while Westword proclaimed, “Time signatures switch suddenly and unexpectedly throughout the six-song EP, creating oceans of frenzied, finger-stretching chaos before melting into beautiful and sprawling half-tempo breakdowns.”

Speaking of Westword, the alt weekly is currently streaming Captains Of Industry at its website. Go here to to listen to the EP in its entirety. You can also download the song “The Endless Choir” at the link below.

Annabel – Summer Tour

ANNABEL – Summer Tour Begins Tomorrow ( May 13 – June 04 )
——————————————————————————–

* In support of Each And Everyone
* Album now streaming on Punknews.org
* Band records new EP / new song posted on Myspace

——————————————————————————–

Beginning tomorrow, Annabel is hitting the road for a Summer Tour that will find the band traveling from the East to the West Coast in the span of three weeks. The Kent, Ohio outfit continues to play shows in support its debut full-length, Each And Everyone, which was released by Count Your Lucky Stars in 2009.

You can currently stream the record in its entirety on Punknews.org. Additionally, Annabel has shot videos for two songs from the album, “As It Happened” and “People & Places.” A third track, “Sleeping Lions,” is available below as a free download as well.

Listen to “Sleeping Lions” ( Free mp3 )

As if that weren’t enough, you can still download the band’s self-released debut EP, Now That We’re Alive, from our friends at If You Make It.

Annabel’s upcoming tour also comes in anticipation of a newly recorded EP, Here We Are Tomorrow. The opening song, “The Forgetting of Names and Faces,” has been posted for your listening pleasure on the band’s Myspace Page. Release details for the EP are TBA.

Following up the success of its self-released EP, Now That We’re Alive, Annabel seizes the momentum with Each And Everyone. Youthful exuberance gives way to thoughtful maturity but the album never lacks the intoxicating energy of the band’s past work. Each And Everyone is noticeably more aggressive as the infectious melodies of the band have become razor sharp. Combining the instrumental dynamics of post rock with driving indie pop gives Annabel a unique charm and displays an outfit on the verge of greatness.

As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with the band, drop me a line here.

Stegosaur – Spring Tour

STEGOSAUR – Spring Tour Begins Tomorrow (May 12-June 4)
——————————————————————————————————

* In support of Adventure 7″
* EP now streaming on Punknews.org

——————————————————————————————————

Beginning tomorrow, Stegosaur is taking its brand of post-hardcore pop on the road for a little spring fling. The band continues to support its first proper release, the Adventure 7-inch, on Sea Foam Recordings.

You can now stream all three songs from the band’s debut on Punknews.org.

Additionally, the band has made a video for “A Headache,” which you can check out here. The song is available as a free download below as well.

Listen to “A Headache” (Free mp3)

Stegosaur takes the tried and true formula of post-hardcore and turns the sound on its ear. On Adventure, the band pushes melodies through the roof while never forsaking the rock. These three songs encompass an impressive mixture of tempos, moods and textures as Stegosaur waxes and wanes its way to something unique, yet still warmly familiar. The band has the remarkable ability to write infectious and melodic (indie) rock songs that truly grab the listener with a bold and direct immediacy. If this is any indication of what’s yet to come, Stegosaur’s adventure should be a beautiful one.

Junior Battles – U.S. Tour w/ O Pioneers!!!

JUNIOR BATTLES – U.S. Tour w/ O Pioneers!!! Begins Today (May 06 – 22)
——————————————————————————–

* In support of Self-Titled 7″ on Square Up Records
* Available for Free Download @ If You Make It
* Upcoming Split 7″ (w/ O Pioneers!!!) on Kiss Of Death announced

——————————————————————————————————

Beginning today, Toronto punk band Junior Battles will join Houston’s O Pioneers!!! for two weeks’ worth of shows throughout the U.S. and Canada (May 06 – 22).

The quartet is touring support of its latest Self-Titled 7″ release on Square Up Records, as well as an upcoming split 7″ between the two touring bands via Kiss Of Death. And as if playing shows and releasing records together wasn’t incestuous enough, for the duration of the tour, 3/4 of Junior Battles will provide their considerable talents as the backing band for O Pioneer’s front man, Eric Solomon.

Details of the split release are still forthcoming, but the Self-Titled 7″can be procured from Square Up here. Limited to a pressing of 500, the record is available on green / white (150) and grey marble (350) colorways.

Additionally, the 4-song effort can be downloaded for free from our friends at If You Make It. Free is good, right?

Recommended for fans of Jawbreaker, Green Day, Bad Religion and Saves The Day, this sweet slab of wax doesn’t ignore Junior Battles’ roots; the soaring harmonies and richly layered choruses are in full, glorious effect, and it’s apparent that the band’s heart still pumps in time with the beat of its esteemed influences. There’s a sharpening of the outfit’s sound though. Galloping rhythms and buzz-saw guitars propel the songs into more dynamic territories, while the lyrics hit harder with a cutting glance toward the rigmarole of the music industry as well as what it means to make the transition from a band that occasionally plays around town to one that has become a much bigger part of each member’s life.

As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with the band, drop me a line here.

We Were Skeletons has leaked two songs from the album for your listening pleasure. “Exposure To Heavy Metal Causes Whatever” is available exclusively on the band’s Myspace page and “Kids” can be downloaded below.

Listen to Kids (free mp3)

We Were Skeleton’s brand of screamy, chaotic hardcore should appeal to long-time fans of the genre. The album was recorded with Will Killingsworth (Orchid, Ampere) at Dead Air Studios and is the band’s greatest accomplishment to date. Imagine City of Caterpillar, Kidcrash, Off Minor and Hot Cross, all rolled into one breathtaking statement. This is an record that must be heard!

Animal Names – Let It Been Out Today

ANIMAL NAMESLET IT BEEN Out Today
——————————————————————————–

* May 4th (Star Wars Day) marks official digital release on iTunes
* Full album stream at Punknews.org

——————————————————————————–

Vancouver, British Columbia’s Animal Names has saved the best for last. The band’s final full-length, Let It Been, will be digitally released today on iTunes via its own label, Boat Dreams From The Hill.

Let It Been was recorded in August of 2009 and thankfully, survived the group’s impending break-up. Residing somewhere between soulful indie pop and guitar power pop, Animal Names reaffirms the simplicity of smart, textured songwriting and injects it with plenty of wit, to boot. Blending together punky, intertwining guitars with a melodic complexity, the band’s restrained approach eschews cheap hooks in favor of embracing subtlety.

Let It Been is currently streaming in its entirety at Punknews.org.

Additionally, you can download (Where Is My) Space Puppy? and 99 Luft Einkaufstasche / Santa’s Bday (free mp3s).

Animal Names states its case to be remembered fondly with this bittersweet swan song, and Let It Been stands tall as a testament to a brilliant moment in time where unbridled creativity blossomed into a fractured creation. Animal Names coming to an end may be sad but its final full-length is the joyous celebration at the wake.

Paper + Plastick Signs Restorations

RESTORATIONS joins PAPER + PLASTICK
——————————————————-

* Strange Behavior EP – out digitally May 4th
* 12″ (45rpm) version to be released in June
* New song streaming @ P+P

——————————————————-

Paper + Plastick (A Wilhelm Scream, The Swellers, Cheap Girls, Frank Turner, Shook Ones) is excited to welcome Philadelphia’s Restorations to its impressive, ever-growing roster of bands.

Featuring members of the sorely missed Jena Berlin, Restorations’ debut EP, Strange Behavior, was recorded by Algernon Cadwallader’s Joe Reinhart and will be released digitally by the Gainesville label on May 4th via iTunes and other digital retailers, and then on 12-inch vinyl in late June.

The first offering from the four-song EP, “Title Track,” is now featured in the streaming media player on Paper + Plastick’s home page. Go here to listen.

On a related note, both songs from the Restorations’ latest 7-inch, Of Trees / Frankford, which was released earlier this year by Evil Weevil Records, are streaming here.

Restorations occupies a truly rarefied air, existing somewhere between indie rock’s off-kilter jangle, the dynamic nature of punk and hardcore, shoegaze’s contemplative restraint and the breeziness of a front porch romp through rustic Americana. There’s a taut, electrified undercurrent that keeps Strange Behavior tense and ominous – and maybe even a little dangerous-sounding – but the Philly quintet still manages to exude warmth and earnestness throughout the duration. These four songs envelope the listener in Jon Loudon’s gravely, soulful vocals and the band’s pulsing, fuzzy indie stylings. You’ll lose yourself in atmospheric peaks and valleys while Restorations keep you on edge with songs that burn slowly before careening down unexpected, yet always exciting avenues.

Tiny Engines To Release Castevet LP

TINY ENGINES To Release CASTEVET LP
——————————————————-

* Pre-order The Echo & The Light 12″ (out 06/29/10)
* Album re-recorded + two brand new tracks
* Stream three new songs now

——————————————————-

Tiny Engines is pleased to announce that it will release The Echo & The Light, the newest eight-song LP from Chicago’s Castevet.

The album, which will be released on 12″ vinyl and digital formats on June 29, 2010, is now up for pre-order from the label.

Originally available as an ultra-limited six-song CDEP / tape for Castevet’s 09 Winter tour with Grown Ups, the six tracks – plus two brand new offerings – have been re-recorded and will be pressed by Tiny Engines on 180 gram black (200) and white (300) vinyl. Stiffslack Records will also be releasing a CD version of The Echo & The Light exclusive to Japan. To secure a copy of this awesome record, go here.

The band is currently streaming three songs from the LP on its Myspace page, including the never-heard-before “Six Parts Summer” and re-recorded versions of “Narrow Hallways” and “Midwest Values.”

Picking up where the Castevet’s acclaimed full-length, Summer Fences, left off, The Echo & The Light doesn’t miss a beat, honing in on the band’s most positive attributes. Leaning less on the sweeping atmospherics and lush soundscapes of its debut, the Chicago quartet kicks up the distortion and fuzz pedals that lace kinetic, intertwining guitars while placing a greater emphasis on gritty vocals and concise songs that wind tightly around propulsive, math-tinged instrumental passages. If Summer Fences was the result of a Castevet experimenting with an abundance of great ideas, The Echo & The Light is the band only using the very best of those.

- Every song immediately becomes the perfect soundtrack to whatever is going on in your life.ReadJunk
- Haunting and melodic but at the same time rip-roaring, energetic, and heartfelt.Fistfight At The Arthouse
- Geez, Castevet, why you gotta be so awesome all the time? Another kick-ass collection of post-hardcore charmers.Picasso Blue
- Four insanely talented musicians channeling every last drop of musicianship and songwriting skill into crafting emotional behemoths. When We Were Younger & Better

Everyone Everywhere MP3 Blog Tour Begins Today

EVERYONE EVERYWHERE MP3 BLOG TOUR!
——————————————————————————–

* 10 Independent Music Blogs give away new Self-Titled Full-Length from Everyone Everywhere
* Follow the Tour beginning today (@ The Ripple Effect) through May 4th release date to download all 10 songs from the record
* Pre-Order 12″ from Tiny Engines / available now through iTunes

——————————————————————————–

Beginning today, April 19th, and spanning through May 4th, Tiny Engines and 10 Independent Music Blogs will be giving away every song from the upcoming Self-Titled 12″ LP from Philadelphia’s Everyone Everywhere.

Aptly dubbed the “Everyone Everywhere MP3 Blog Tour,” the concept is simple: ten amazing blogs giving away ten amazing songs over the course of the next two weeks.

The Ripple Effect will be kicking off today’s festivities with a free download of the album opener, “Tiny Planet” followed by “Raw Bar OBX 2002″ at Can You See The Sunset? tomorrow. Other participating blogs include Built On A Weak Spot, Dryvetyme Onlyne, Battle Of The Midwestern Housewives, Deckfight, The Album Project, Familiarize Yourself, Reviewsic and Clicky Clicky, each of which will be giving away a different song from the record on consecutive days – save for the weekends – until its official release date, May 4th.

For a detailed schedule of tracks and participants, see below.

Of course, nothing this good last forever. At the end of the tour all mp3s will be removed, and like a nerd on prom night, the collective hearts of any late comers to the dance will be broken. It’s not all bad news though as our friends at Punknews.org will then begin streaming the record in its entirety on May 4th. That’s kind of like going to the prom and managing to steal a dance with the pretty girl (right before she gets plowed by her meatball boyfriend beneath the bleachers).

For those who simply can’t wait to download this terrific record (or simply would like to support the band and label) it’s currently available from iTunes and other digital retailers. And obviously you can still Pre-Order the 12″ LP version in all its vinyl awesomeness from Tiny Engines.

So what are you waiting for? Start the tour!

About the Record
——————————————————————————–

Everyone Everywhere’s eponymous debut builds on the rock-solid foundation laid down on last year’s dynamic 7-inch, A Lot Of Weird People Standing Around, and further pushes the band’s sonic palette in exciting new directions at every turn. Sure, those lovely Promise Ring vibes remain – not to mention hints of Braid’s twisting-yet-tuneful angularity, the crackling anti-anthems of indie heroes Superchunk and Piebald’s off-kilter sense of melody – but the Philly four piece has honed its songwriting chops, dialed in its amps and seriously upped the ante with this emotionally taut ten-song affair.

* Summer tour on the horizon

——————————————————————————————————

Topshelf Records (Defeater, My Heart To Joy) – in partnership with Mayfly Records – is excited to announce that Old Pride, the sophomore album from hardcore outfit Pianos Become The Teeth, is now available for Pre-Order.

Originally released on CD format by Topshelf in January 2010, the critically acclaimed album will see a limited first pressing of 500 12″ vinyl, split between green and white/green colored wax. All LPs will come with a digital download card as well as a 32×22 inch poster. To secure your copy, go here.

Additionally, Old Pride is streaming in its entirety at Punknews.org. The album’s first track, “Filial,” is still available for free download (mp3) as well.

Screamo is dead. Or at least that is what some people say. However, Pianos Become The Teeth begs to differ. The band turns the oversaturated and overproduced genre upside down with an album so powerful and so brave it can only be compared to the legends that preceded it. Mixing elements of hardcore, post rock and screamo, Old Pride breathes new life into a once decaying scene. Pianos Become The Teeth has a melodic yet uncompromising sound that showcases a diverse set of influences. Brimming with sincerity and brandishing an experimental ambiance, the band is pushing beyond the boundaries of a stale genre with poetic lyrics and an impassioned delivery. Screamo is dead? The skeptics might want to listen to Old Pride before making such bold proclamations.

In related news, Pianos Become The Teeth is gearing up for its 40+ day US Summer Tour from June 11th – July 21. Full itinerary will be announced soon but you can check out the tentative schedule at the band’s Myspace page.

“Their screamo peers — past or present — should be more than envious.” – Alternative Press (4/5)
“Euphoric, exhilarating and utterly discordant … the kind of band that allows you to feel young, nervous and excited about music again. Powerful, majestic, important and truly fantastic from start to finish.” – Rock Sound (9/10)
“Finally, the screamo genre has moved forward again.” – Deckfight
“Artfully elegant and resplendent instrumental passages, decimating with torturously emotional screamed catharsis.” – Strange Glue
“An 8 song powerhouse of unabashed hardcore and screamo intertwined with building crescendos and post-rock interludes that make it just as unique as it is impressively devastating.” – Bedwetting Cosmonaut
“… F*cking amazing.” – Indie Rock Reviews (9.2/10)

BIG SCARY MONSTERS – New Spring Releases!

Noumenon – Digital EP, Party Mathematics, out May 04
* Now streaming on Punknews.org

Hanalei (Brian Moss – The Ghost / Olehole) – One Big Night full-length out June 01
* Split release with Brick Gun Records

——————————————————————————————————

Big Scary Monsters is pleased to announce that it will be working with Chicago instrumental trio Noumenon, as well as Hanalei, the solo vehicle for San Francisco native and The Ghost / Olehole front man Brian Moss.

On May 4th, The transcontinental label will release the five-song digital EP, Party Mathematics, from the former, while the latter’s newest full-length, One Big Night, will see a June 1st CD / digital release.

Recorded and produced by Mike Lust (Chin Up Chin Up, William Elliott Whitmore, Volta Do Mar) and mastered by Carl Saff (Young Widows, Ghosts and Vodka, Melt Banana), Noumenon’s aptly titled debut EP revels in twisting time signatures, jubilant chord progressions and warm, fuzzy melodies that ultimately keep the proceedings light and fun. In other words … party math, duder!

Punknews.org is currently streaming the EP in its entirety. Go here to listen.

One Big Night is Hanalei’s first proper release in four years and finds Brian Moss exploring more straight-forward, stripped-down avenues. An entirely self-recorded affair, fans of The Ghost and Olehole will still appreciate Moss’s raw, honest approach to songwriting. The full-length will be released in CD and digital formats by Big Scary Monsters and upstart Brick Gun Records.

You can listen to two songs – “Rats” and the title track, “One Big Night” – on Hanalei’s Myspace page.

THE SADDEST LANDSCAPE – Recording / New Releases / European Tour
——————————————————————————–

* Recording for new full-length begins this weekend
* Split 9″ with Pianos Become The Teeth
* June European tour

——————————————————————————–

The Saddest Landscape will be heading into the studio this weekend to begin work on its first full-length record since 2003. The band is currently weighing its label options but the record should see a late Summer / early Fall 2010 release.

You might not know who The Saddest Landscape is but you should. Originally formed in 2002, the Boston-based band quickly made a name for itself in the screamo underground with multiple releases and splits with greats like The Pine and Funeral Diner.

After being dormant for 2006 and 2007, the band reconvened to play a few European shows in 2008, which would eventually lead to The Saddest Landscape’s reemergence in 2009 and the band’s first new release since 2005, a split 7″ with Trophy Scars on Bear Records. Also of note, in the Winter of 09 the band released a 2xLP vinyl discography, All Is Apologized For. All Is Forgiven., on its own Cover Your Heart Records.

The Saddest Landscape is also excited to announce Just Say No! Records will be releasing a split 9″ (yes, 9″!) with the great Pianos Become The Teeth this summer. The band will contribute songs to “Connections Vol II” as well, which is an international compilation from Sweden’s Moment of Collapse featuring six bands from six different countries.

And if that wasn’t enough, The Saddest Landscape will be heading back to Europe in June. Among the dates to be announced, the band will be headlining the legendary Cry Me A River Festival in Germany.

In other Top Shelf news, the Vinyl Pre-Order for Rooftops’ debut album, A Forest Of Polarity, starts this Thursday (04/01/10). No April Fools joke here!

Rooftops takes its brand of intricate math pop and layers it generously with acoustic guitars, horns, strings and percussion. The resulting arrangements create an impressive sound uniting math rock and post rock into something bold, new and exciting. The band adds vocals to the mix only sparingly but at brilliantly timed intervals for maximum effect. It is the bold, unbridled enthusiasm of math rock harnessed only by the restraints and subtle nuances of post rock. A Forest Of Polarity is the sound of two becoming one. Can you hear it?

The band is streaming songs from A Forest Of Polarity on its Myspace page. Additionally, you can download an mp3 for the song “Raft Easily” here.
