The Hotel Year – Tour Dates Announced

THE HOTEL YEAR - On Tour

• Winter Tour Dates announced (2/26 – 3/23)
• Sophomore LP coming Summer 2013 on Tiny Engines
• Stream/download debut LP HERE

——————————————————————————————————

Fresh off the announcement of The Hotel Year signing to Tiny Engines (Dikembe, State Lines, Run, Forever, Signals Midwest), the band is set to embark on a Winter Tour starting February 26th in Easthampton, MA. The band will finish up recording for their sophomore full-length before leaving for tour and Tiny Engines will release the new LP on 12″ vinyl in the Summer. The album will be the long-awaited follow up the band’s 2011 debut, It Never Goes Out, which is available for a name your price download HERE.

Residing somewhere loosely between pop/punk, indie rock and emo, The Hotel Year exude a certain charm and romanticism that exceeds their relatively young age. The band’s quirky style immediately brings to mind the geek rock heart and soul of Piebald and Harvey Danger while recalling the playfulness of The Promise Ring. Reminiscent in spirit with the confrontational poetry of The Weakerthans, The Hotel Year showcase a genuine maturity that pushes the band beyond genre stereotypes and firmly into their own stratosphere.

If you live in an area that The Hotel Year are missing (TX, FL mainly) and want to help the band out, email them HERE.

State Lines – Debut New Song on AbsolutePunk.net

STATE LINES Stream New Song on Absolute Punk

• For The Boats due out April 2013 / Pre-orders coming soon
• Stream “Shady Existence” on Absolute Punk
• Stream “Linger” on Bandcamp
• For The Boats Artwork / Tracklisting released
• Band playing Today’s Mixtape Festival and Stay Sweet Fest in April

——————————————————————————————————

Long Island, NY’s State Lines have unveiled a new song from their upcoming album, For The Boats, to be released this Spring on Tiny Engines (Dikembe, Run, Forever, Signals Midwest, The Hotel Year). You can now hear an exclusive stream of the track “Shady Existence” on Absolute Punk. Tiny Engines will release For The Boats on 12″ vinyl in April with pre-orders and digital release coming soon.

You can also hear the updated version of the album track “Linger” on the Tiny Engines Bandcamp now. An early version of the song appeared on last year’s 4-Way Fest Split 7″ with State Lines, Into It. Over It., Misser, and You Blew It! on Music Gives Back. The 7″ is now sold out.

Though State Lines has matured since their last Self-Titled EP, For The Boats shows that they have not lost their emotional intensity. Instead, the energy, once generated by explosive tempos, is reserved for the record’s most touching moments; likewise the charm that made Hoffman Manor so memorable has been swapped by dynamics and momentum. In fact, one might argue that For The Boats is more restless, more intense, rawer, and certainly more real.

For The Boats follows up State Lines’ Self-Titled 7″ which was released in the Summer of 2012 on Tiny Engines. That was the follow-up to the band’s 2011 debut, Hoffman Manor, which you can download for free here.

The band will be playing Today’s Mixtape Festival and Stay Sweet Fest in April and will head to the West Coast in June followed by more Summer touring on the East Coast. Dates to be announced.

Tyler Daniel Bean – On Tour / Debut LP Out Now

TYLER DANIEL BEAN – On Tour / In Support of Longing

Longing LP Available Now On Kat Kat Records
• Stream/Name-Your-Price Download here
• Winter Tour Announced (JAN 02-19)

——————————————————————————————————

Burlington, VT’s Tyler Daniel Bean released his debut LP, Longing, earlier this year on Kat Kat Records. You can name-your-price and download the album here and/or order the vinyl from Kat Kat here.

With unbridled ambition, Tyler Daniel Bean has taken the reigns of his eponymous musical hobbyhorse to race in the heats of heartache in the Oberst-emo arena. Having stitched closure with his recently disbanded screamo band, ghosting., Tyler has gotten a great start straight out of the gate having just released his debut full-length album. Longing is a gritty record that has raised the bar on what it means to be mellifluous balladeer in the acoustic/screamo realm. Despite this being his solo debut album, make no mistake; Tyler Daniel Bean is no novice and certainly no stranger in alt musical circles. To boot, being a dweller of Burlington, Vermont, he is well acquainted with cold and barren landscapes. It is these types of settings that are lyrically portrayed in his seasoned songwriting with sentiments being even more exquisitely rich than the sap of a maple tree with early-stage Jesse Lacey flowing from it.

Bean is heading out on a short Winter Tour in January in support of Longing. The tour is with a full band featuring members of Weak Teeth and Without. The dates include shows with The Hotel Year, Placeholder and Tanner Jones of You Blew It!. You can check out the tour poster here.

BIO

Admittedly, we don’t know much about the mysterious Three Man Cannon, other than the fact that the four piece includes members of Tigers Jaw, Idiot Kid and King God. Public appearances have been limited and the band’s previous releases – 2010′s Nelson and the 2008 debut LP The Sound. The Fury. – have won a dedicated, albeit small fan base. Regardless, these five new tracks will undoubtedly be where 3MC makes its mark, with a sweet, slightly off-kilter sound that has the ability to incite raucous singalongs and bouts of foot stomping in one instant, and soothe the masses with bittersweet melodies and atmospheric flourishes the next. Imagine a folkier Modest Mouse … or maybe a more punk Mountain Goats and you get the idea.

Portland, OR’s Lee Corey Oswald is a different beast than its East Coast brethren, finding warmth in the hooky, blown-out fuzz rock and reverb-drenched riffs of yesteryear. Recorded and produced completely in analog by Kind Of Like Spitting’s Ben Barnett, these six new tracks revel in punk rock’s reckless abandon and the skewed pop harmonics of ’90s indie rock. The band originally started as an acoustic folk duo between Lee Ellis and Corey Ciresi, but the group has taken on many different incarnations. Never was that more apparent than in 2011′s Moon Songs, a full-length split into two camps: the electric side and the acoustic side. Lee Corey Oswald has grown quite a bit since then, traveling the US and touring with the likes of The Menzingers and Luther. The result is a confident blend of songwriting prowess and youthful exuberance that’s downright infectious.

Challenges – Debut LP Available from Pre-Order from Say-10

CHALLENGES – Debut Full-Length Now Available For Pre-order
——————————————————————————–

We Ruined The Neighborhood out 10/11/11 from Say-10
• Now available digitally / streaming @ Bandcamp
• Video: “I Was Always Good At Lying
• Free MP3: “Drop The ‘R’

——————————————————————————–

We Ruined The Neighborhood, the debut full-length from Challenges (Millbury, MA) is now available for Pre-order from Say-10 (The Riot Before, GDP, Dirty Tactics). The album will see an official street date of October 11th on CD and LP format, with the latter being limited to 300 on green vinyl. These 11 stellar pop-punk gems are also available digitally via iTunes and Bandcamp, where you can also stream the record in its entirety.

To celebrate the upcoming release, Challenges and Say-10 are giving away ultra-rare vinyl test pressings of Neighborhood to two lucky pre-order customers. For more information, go here.

Recorded by Ian Van Opijnen (Born Without Bones, Energy, The Hotel Year) and originally self-released by the band in late 2010, We Ruined The Neighborhood is busting at the seams with passion, buoyant enthusiasm and a truckload of sing-along hooks. There’s no doubt that Challenges is a young band with energy to spare. In that respect, the quintet’s debut follows in the footsteps of contemporaries such as The Wonder Years, Four Year Strong and fellow Bay Staters, Transit. However, Neighborhood is able to harness that electricity and wrap it around engaging song structures and a surprisingly mature grasp of composition, bringing to mind pop-punk forefathers like Blink 182 and New Found Glory.

To download a free mp3 for the song “Drop The ‘R’” go here. Additionally, Challenges recently debuted a video for “I Was Always Good At Lying,” which you can view here.

In related news, Say-10 and Challenges will be teaming up again for a split 7″ with the UK’s Who’s Driving? Bears Driving!. The record will be released on November 22, 2011. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks.
