Distances, the newest split 7-inch from Philadelphia’s The Wonder Years and Birmingham, England’s All Or Nothing, was born from the friendship forged and experiences shared amongst the pop-punk giants on their 2007 UK Hostels and Brothels Tour.  Truly a transatlantic effort between two enthusiastic, turbo-charged bands, Distances is teeming with undeniable melodies, plenty of infectious, shouted choruses and dynamic song structures galore.  It’s heavy on the hooks, but incredibly easy on the ears.

The Wonder Years claims side A with two tracks of upbeat, synth-tinged punk rock and hardcore punch that twists and turns through buzz-saw guitars and an enthusiastic rhythm section.  Making their mark on side B, All Or Nothing treads similar ground with equal amounts of vim and vigor and perhaps a more straightforward approach, but they attack their songs with no less ferocity than their American counterparts.  All in all, Distances is a brief, but completely satisfying foray into the  rip-roaring world of hardcore-flavored pop-punk.

The Wonder Years recorded their songs with Vince Ratti (Circa Survive, None More Black, Valencia, Achilles) at Skylight Studios in November 2008 while All Or Nothing’s tracks were recorded with Matty O’Grady and John Mitchell at Outhouse Studios in October 2008.  Limited to 1000 and pressed on three different color variations (300 white / blue splatter, 300 white / red splatter, 400 clear blue), Distances will be released by No Sleep Records on March 10th, 2009.  Each copy of the 7-inch includes an MP3 download card which features a bonus third track from All Or Nothing.  For more information go to www.nosleeprecs.com.
